Forget socks for a second, this Father’s Day why not help dad lose that big daggy dad energy with something a bit different. 

We're talking dinner with a side of dad sneakers, a massive suburb-wide pub crawl packed with live gigs, a Viking feast and whisky blending classes.

Chin Chin X New Balance 

Slap on your best kicks because this Father’s Day Chin Chin and New Balance will have you racing down to Surry Hills. The first 100 people to book the “Feed Me” menu this Sunday 1 September will not only get served an giant Chin Chin banquet, dad will also score a New Balance Voucher because, dad sneakers (duh). This menu has better combos than jeans and joggers, including kingfish sashimi, fried squid, miyang, springrolls, braised lamb shoulder, BBQ king salmon, suckling pig with pancake roll-ups and more. Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool Season Opener

Ditch the suit this Father’s Day and welcome the arrival spring at the season opener of iconic Sydney swimming spot, Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool. Charcoal BBQ At Efendy

If there’s one BBQ to rival dad’s own backyard bash this Father’s Day, it’s Efendy’s charcoal BBQ lunch. The team here are serving up traditional Turkish-style meats and veggies slow-cooked over a charcoal grill and wood-fired oven. Salivate over their selection of hot and cold mezes, including woodfired lavash with dips, spicy lamb lahmacun followed by a kebab board with Adana kebab, lamb fillet and charred vegetables. The Australian Heritage Hotel Fathers Day Lunch

The Australian Heritage Hotel knows this is dad’s day and boy have they hit the nail on the head. Think $5 Willie the Boatman tinnies all day and a free schooner with any lunch booking. Fathers Day Festival Centennial Park 

Centennial Parklands is celebrating all the great men in your life with a full-blown Father’s Day Festival. In collaboration with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, they’re hosting the 2019 Father’s Day Warrior run to bring the whole family together. The Warrior Run is an inclusive event for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities—but if running really isn't dad's thing, don’t worry, the festival also includes Indigenous market stalls where you can sample some bush tucker and watch a warrior dance. King Street Crawl

For all the young-at-heart dad’s out there, the King Street Crawl is absolutely where it's at this Father's Day. This massive suburb-wide pub crawl is the kickstart of this year's very (very) impressive Sydney Fringe Festival lineup, and pretty much every cafe, shop, bar and pub in Newtown, Enmore and Erskineville are in on it. Expect tonnes of live music and performances (about 150 acts across 30 venues), free entry everywhere and good times absolutely guaranteed for dad. Head here for more.

Viking Feast At Mjolner

Viking ships, ancient weapons and dragon heads line the walls of this speakeasy restaurant bar in Redfern. A lunch at Mjolner will have Dad feasting off mouth-watering rotisserie meats feeling like a Nordic King. Endeavour Tap Rooms Bottomless Brewers Plates

For dad’s with a palate practically made for meal-pairing, this is the wine and cheese equivalent you’ve been waiting for. The Endeavour Taprooms is dishing out their famous smoked meats and pairing them with Aussie beers from their own brewery. Whisky Blending At Archie Rose Distillery 

Why buy dad a bottle of whisky when you could let him make his very own? Yep, he won’t just go home with a new skill, he’ll also leave with two 200ml bottles of his own signature blend.

Weird And Wacky Vaudeville Show

This night has daggy dad written all over it so why not indulge him for a bit? Marrickville’s infamous jazz venue, Camelot Lounge, is presenting Vaudevillia (an eccentric style of live theatre performance blending comedy, poetry and song) by Mic Conway's National Junk Band. Be entertained at this out of the box Father’s day event like no other. More details are here
