Sydney loves a dining precinct. As the city morphs under a whirlwind of futuristic developments and far-flung expansions, we reckon shiny new dining precincts are the most exciting part. Packed out with hyped-up new restaurants to try, it's a whole new way of getting out and dining out. The freshest dining precinct to pop up is Sydney Place—boasting 15 new venues and five more on the way in the heart of Circular Quay.
Sydney Place ticks off everything from cult-status baked goods to cutting-edge chefs and restauranteurs, iconic Chinese, and fancy KBBQ too. Headlining the new dining precinct is a second outpost for Federico Zanellato and Lorenzo Librino's Lode Pies. From their signature doughnut-shaped "Crown" croissant to the scalloped pithivier filled with free-range pork and shiitake mushrooms, Lode Pies set a new standard for baked goods in Sydney when it first opened back in 2021—and now, you'll be able to get your fix in the heart of the city too.
Spread across a series of laneways and streets, Sydney Place sits beneath the soaring Sydney Tower, which is now the city's tallest office building. Other headliners to add to your list include a new Korean chef's table experience called Leemiks from David Bae and his newly launched Kolture hospitality group. There's also another outpost for the famous Malay Chinese and sandwich hotspots Kosta's Takeaway and Toastiesmith.
Still to come, and slated to open in June, is a whisky bar from Joel Best and the team behind one of Sydney's best omakase experiences, Besuto (dubbed Besuto Bar). Sydney Place also takes in the new and improved mutli-storey Jackson's on George, reimagined by Maurice Terzini of Icebergs and The Dolphin Hotel fame (due to open in May).
