The Best Christmas Markets Happening In Sydney This Year

By Sophia Richardson - 05 Dec 2017

Guys, it’s officially Christmas time and we’re really (like REALLY) excited for it. And because we’re all about that festive cheer, we’ve even rounded up the best Christmas markets happening around town and we promise that decision was only 60% selfish. TBH it'd be simply rude to not check them all out.

Here are all the best Christmas markets happening in Sydney this month.

Wrap yourself in tinsel and stick a star on your head because it’s time guys, it’s time to do Christmas.

Since The Grounds throw a great market at the best of times, we’re expecting them to bring out the big guns for their Christmas market this year. It’s happening the entire week leading up to Christmas and yep, that means it’s the ideal spot to pick up those last minute Christmas Day goodies. Picture their usual off the chain markets but Christmasy AF.

Where: The Grounds of Alexandria
When: 18 – 20 December, 10am – 7pm & 21 – 24 December, 9am – 3.30pm

This typical Mosman market is flipping itself into a festive twilight market on 7 December to celebrate all things Christmas (duh). There isn’t anything cuter than shopping and eating while listening to Christmas carols in the twilight. We obviously will be there with bells on—Christmas bells to be exact.

Where: Mosman Square and Village Green, Mosman
When: 7 December,
4:30pm to 9:30pm

Christmas in Sydney generally involves a whoooooole lot of fresh seafood. That’s why you’ve got 36 hours to get down to the Sydney Fish Markets to pick up premium fish, oysters and prawns, deli foods, fresh fruit and vege. Take it from people who’ve braved this one on Christmas Eve one too many times (seriously, once if too many times), get in as early as possible. From 5am on Saturday the seafood retailers stay open for 36 god damn hours just so you can get your mitts on quality seafood.

Where: Sydney Fish Market
When: Saturday 23 December,
5am to Sunday 24 December, 5pm

Head on over to the Argyle Affair Christmas Market in Camden this December to pick up all the cute last minute Christmas pressies. It’s the perfect place to soak up Christmas cheer without the crowds and repetitive Christmas tunes in shopping centres. Sounds like the dream to us.

Where: Camden Hall
When: Saturday 2 December,
10am to 8pm

The straight-up gorgeous Botanic Gardens in Mount Annan (just past Campbelltown) is hosting a Christmas market with a YUGE number of stalls this year. There’ll be goodies galore, art workshops for the kids and a cheeky carols event too (it wouldn’t be Christmas without it). Pick up presents for your family and friends, and let’s be real, for yourself too.

Where: Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan
When: Saturday 16 December,

THE ROCKS Christmas Village MARKETS

Throughout December, you can stroll through The Rocks Christmas Village Markets until 8pm to do a spot of Christmas shopping. Why would you even consider heading anywhere else to shop when you could be on Sydney Harbour eating fresh food and listening to live music—Christmas shopping doesn’t sound so bad anymore does it?

Where: The Rocks

Christmas Fare 2017

Festive shopping is at an all-time high at this one—we’re talking about 40+ stalls featuring some of Sydney’s best artisan producers, makers and ready-to-eat gourmet goods. Once you’re done buying goods for everyone else in your life, treat yo’self at the pop-up boutique bar then sit back and enjoy the live entertainment
