There's no point denying it any longer. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Come December, Sydney turns it up a notch with a shiny trail of dedicated Christmas markets to shop, each with a smorgasbord of festive feeds to dig into.

Here are the best Christmas markets to hit in Sydney.

Carriageworks Christmas Farmers Markets

The Carriageworks Christmas Farmers market will be an absolute foodie dreamscape. With a stall line-up curated by acclaimed chef Mike McEnearney from Sydney’s Kitchen By Mike, this Christmas market will follow a strict Market Charter so you can be sure all produce comes from quality local growers and producers. This weekly farmers market will stock organic and biodynamic produce, fancy bread, boutique wines, single origin coffee, herbal teas, meat, eggs, freshly harvested honey, and freshly cut flowers.

When: Every Saturday until 19 December, 8am - 1pm
Where: Carriageworks, Eveleigh

Chai Walli Xmas Warehouse Market

Make way for this masala market packed with all the chai, spices, and tea you could ever need for the festive season. Hosted in Chai Walli’s mega HQ, you can expect an extensive collection of chai-inspired treats including soap, chocolate, candles, and body scrub and a bunch of new Chai Walli products too, like lemongrass chai and vegan sticky chai. 

The best bit? This Sydney Christmas market is dog-friendly too. Just make sure to RSVP here to help the team know how many people are attending so they can take the right COVID-19 precautions. Chai Walli Xmas Warehouse Market will also only take credit or debit cards.

When: Friday 11 until Sunday 13 December

Paddington Christmas Markets

If you're familiar with Paddington's Saturday markets, this will be an amped-up version, made festive. Pick up some last-minute gifts while you scope over 120 stalls spanning fashion, jewellery, accessories, homewares, pet wear, art, plants, cards, wreaths, Christmas trees, and a whole heap more. Live music will also be on the cards, and you’re in for an epic sling of food stalls to fuel your Christmas shopping too. 

When: Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 December, 10am - 4pm
Where: Paddington Public School, Paddington

The Cannery Christmas Markets

You’ll want to save the date for the Christmas version of The Cannery markets. Filling up an entire weekend, this one is famed for its delicious baked treats but you’ll also find lots of festive liqueurs and artisanal pieces. There’ll be over 40 different food vendors and you can keep up to date with which stalls are due to open on the day here.

When: Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, 10am - 3pm
Where: The Cannery, Rosebery

Eastern European Christmas Market

Wigilia is the feast held in Poland every Christmas Eve, usually lasting the entire night. Hosted at Ashfield’s legendary Polish Club, this Eastern European Christmas Market is a cake stall of sorts that’ll champion the best baked goods and sweet treats of this feast, with Polish classics like ciasta (a type of Polish cake), pączki (Polish doughnuts), sernik (cheesecake), piernik (Polish gingerbread), makowiec (a type of poppy seed roll) and a whole heap more.

When:  Sunday 20 December

Sydney Fish Market 36-Hour Seafood Marathon

Bringing back one of our favourite festive things to do this month, the Sydney Fish Market is prepping 700 tonnes of the freshest seafood for our bellies. Doors open at 5am on Wednesday 23 December and stay open right through to 5pm on Christmas Eve.  And while the Sydney Fish Market is usually a chaotic rush at Christmas time, this year, things are set to be a little different. In order to stick to COVID-safe measures and guidelines, you’ll actually get the chance to pre-order and get home delivery as well.

When: Wednesday 23 December, 5am, until Thursday 24 December, 5pm
Where: Sydney Fish Market, Pyrmont

Carriageworks Christmas Twilight Market

For the last-minute folks, Carriageworks’ Christmas one-night-only Twilight Market will be your best bet at scoring a whole heap of goods just two days before Christmas. The special market is locked to host more than 70 NSW growers, farmers, and artisans all stocking some of the freshest seasonal produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, preserves, treats, baked goods, and, of course, a whole slew of festive vino. 

On the line-up, you can expect local legends like Blue M Food Co. who will be selling jams, spreads, and chutneys, Cornersmith with their preserves and ferments, Demoiselle Distillery, Drive-In Orchards with their sweet cherries, LP’s Quality Meats sporting all the charcuterie staples and sausages, Pasta Emilia, Sonoma, Yulli’s Brews and a whole heap more. Registration for varying time slots is essential for this one or you can plan your shop ahead of time by pre-ordering with stallholders and collecting on the night.

When: Wednesday 23 December, 4pm - 8pm
Where: Carriageworks, Eveleigh

The Rocks Christmas Markets

The Rocks is typically a pretty magical place, with laneways and cobblestones and old-timey pubs. So it's an idyllic spot for Christmas Markets. Expect a whole lot of homemade baked goods, as well as hand-designed greeting cards, and award-winning gingerbread. For last-minute gifts, you’ll have everything from various spices and natural perfume to timber homewares, handcrafted leather goods, bush art, and candles. There’ll also be a solid pool of Christmas music to soundtrack your al fresco shopping including Buble’, Bing Crosby, and Dean Martin Classics.

When: Until Wednesday 23 December, Friday and Saturdays from 10am - 8pm, Sundays from 10am - 5pm and a Special Christmas Eve Market Thursday 24 December from 11am - 6pm
