Everything You Need To Know Before Heading To The Ashes In 2026
If you are a ride or die cricket fan, this summer is bringing everything you could possibly hope for (and more). The 2026 Ashes Test kicks off in Sydney in January, with England and Australia going head to head.
Here's everything you need to know before heading to the SCG.

When And Where It's All Going Down

The iconic Sydney Cricket Ground will be hosting The Ashes, as per. The Sydney event is the 5th test in the NRMA Insurance Men's Ashes Series, and will be held across four big days—from Sunday 4th to Thursday 8th January.
It's Australia vs England on the chopping block, so you can expect some pretty hectic crowds—ex-pats and Aussie locals alike will be showing up to support.
What To Expect, Weather Wise

Sydney's summer weather is already looking a little unpredictable—warm and humid conditions, with rolling thunderstorms throughout the season. Even on cloudy days, the UV index is destined to be high—and we all know a day at the cricket is often long and exposed to the elements.
While it's hard to know exactly what the weather will hold for the test week, we recommend packing plenty of sunscreen, as well as hydrating (with water, not a trip to the bar) and planting on a hat.
The third day is also the annual Pink Test in support of the McGrath Foundation, so it wouldn't hurt to pop on something pink.
Getting To The SCG

The SCG holds pride of place in Moore Park, so luckily it's not too tricky to get to. Central Station and the Moore Park Light Rail will be transporting cricket-goers headed that way, and services run frequently on event days.
We recommend leaving the car at home this time around—even if you do manage to secure a park, the traffic heading out of the venue can be brutal. If you are looking for a place to stay, you can always book one of the hotels or airbnbs in the Moore Park area, to save you the hectic commute.
