The verdict

10 William St in Paddington straddles the space between a wine bar and restaurant, offering a seasonal Italian menu and comprehensive list of natural wines.

Tucked off Oxford Street, you’ll find 10 William St in a charming narrow building, run by the family behind Potts Point’s Fratelli Paradiso. Downstairs, the daily by-the-glass list is chalked on the wall, and there’s an enviable window table, or seats at the bar counter. Upstairs, it’s more of an intimate feel, with spare chairs hanging from the ceiling and stellar bottles lining the walls.

As much as 10 William St has a following for its food menu, which covers a beloved pretzel with whipped bottarga, fresh pasta, and a must-try tiramisu (which we consider one of the best desserts in Sydney), its wine list also deserves recognition.

The all-natural wine selection leans heavily towards Italian producers with aligned French and Australian makers in the mix, including a page of large-format bottles perfect for group dining. Classic spritzes, aperitivo and digestivo sips and saké complete the diverse drinks menu.
