Lottie is a stunning Mexican restaurant and mezcaleria perched on the rooftop of The EVE Hotel Sydney in Redfern’s Wunderlich Lane.
The contemporary alfresco restaurant is peppered with high-top seats overlooking the action of the open kitchen and bar, luxe banquettes and a semi-private dining area amidst lush greenery.
Headed by Liquid and Larder group executive chef Pip Pratt alongside head chef Alejandro Huerta, who’s racked up experience at Noma in Copenhagen, Pujol in Mexico and the now-closed Comedor, the menu is influenced by Alejandro's heritage and passion for Mexican cuisine.
The 100% gluten-free menu offers snacky bits and tortilla-accompanied mains to share, with must-tries include the guacamole paired with plantain crisps, trout ceviche, flavour-packed sweet corn leche de tigre, pork jowl drenched in a cola mole sauce, and a lasagne-like pastel Azteca with a drool-worthy cheese pull.
For drinks, the Espíritu y Jugo is a vodka, watermelon and lime cocktail that refreshes and delights, or there's three hero margaritas to try: a classic, a spiced, and a frozen seasonal margie, plus a non-alc version.
Being a mezcaleria means a mezcal menu is a must, but Lottie goes above and beyond with over 20 picks plus 40 tequilas. The extensive wine list also wows with natural, biodynamic and international selections, alongside Mexican beers and a selection of mocktails.
