35 Aussie Hotels Earned Michelin Keys This Year: Here’s What You Need to Know Before You Book
The first-ever global Michelin Key selection was announced on October 8, 2025, and a whopping 35 Australian hotels made the cut. Essentially, it’s the hotel version of the super famous Michelin Star restaurant ranking system. So, if you want to find the crème de la crème of hotels in Australia, this list is a good place to start.
Judges consider five key criteria (pun absolutely intended) when selecting hotels for Michelin Keys: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting. And, just like with restaurants, Michelin-rated hotels can earn one, two, or three keys for a very special, exceptional, or extraordinary stay, respectively.
So, whether you’re planning your next indulgent staycation or a once-in-a-lifetime Aussie trip, here’s the full list of Australian Michelin Key hotels to try in 2025.
Australian Hotels with 3 Michelin Keys
Only one Aussie hotel earned the impressively prestigious 3 Michelin Keys in 2025. And, as the only all-inclusive luxury hotel located directly on the Great Barrier Reef, it’s not hard to see why.

Lizard Island Resort might be a bit pricey for some, but if you want to throw money at your problems and treat yourself to some high-end pampering, it’s a safe (and rather luxurious) bet.

Australian Hotels with 2 Michelin Keys
To earn two Michelin Keys, a hotel must be memorable and truly unique. It needs to offer plenty of charm and character, and run with considerable pride and care to provide an exceptional stay.
So, if you’re looking for a holiday experience that will give you bragging rights for a good few months, check out these 9 Australian hotels with 2 Michelin Keys.

Australian Hotels with 1 Michelin Key
For most of us mere mortals, a one-key hotel is more likely to fall within the affordable range (or at least reachable if we reign it in on brunches for a while).
To achieve one-key status, a hotel must be a true gem with personality, extra-mile service levels, and provisions beyond others in its price range. And, lucky for you, there are no fewer than 25 Australian hotels that meet this criteria in 2025.
