Considering how many bridges crisscross the Brisbane River, it was only a matter of time before we got our first restaurant on a bridge, and in a few more weeks the new green bridge from Kangaroo Point to the city will have just that. Come the end of February, now one but two dining venues will call the bridge home (what an address to have, right?), with Tassis Group, the team behind eateries like Opa, Fatcow, Pompette and more opening their most unique venues yet.

The first, Stilts, will be a luxe celebration of Queensland's unique lifestyle, and feature plenty of local ingredients on the menu. Perched right over the water, with an airy, open setting that makes the most of the river breezes, the upscale dining and drinking spot will serve up the likes of freshly shucked oysters with smoked bourbon butter, charcoal-grilled Moreton Bay bugs glazed in miso-yuzu honey and flat iron steaks with beef wagyu dumplings and pea puree.

The second, Mulga Bill’s (named for Banjo Patterson’s poem), will be all about casual, all-day dining, dishing up wood fired pizzas, picnic boxes and grab and go pastries and coffee—perfect for commuters using the bridge to head to work. You can stop in for a brekky pizza or woodfired eggs in the AM, linger over Mediterranean poke bowls and woodfired paella for lunch or even grab a chilli crab pizza for dinner—when we say all-day, we mean all-day.
Michael Tassis, the serial restauranteur behind the Tassis Group said, “the opportunity to create two venues on top of an iconic bridge was simply unmissable. Brisbane is a city that thrives on its connection to the river, and these venues will offer a truly unique way to experience it”.
That’s all we know for now, but stay tuned for an official opening date in late February—and a look inside when they open.
