If you’ve got a hankering that can only be satisfied by purchasing a new piece of art, listen up. Whether you’re a seasoned collector, a budding art hoarder, or you just like the idea of roaming around an eclectic marketplace of beautiful creations and discovering new artists, this one’s for you. The Affordable Art Fair is preparing to throw open the doors to its fourth Sydney edition, and this promises to be its biggest and most ambitious event yet.

Running over four big days from November 6 to 9, the Fair is relocating to its new home at Carriageworks, kicking off the Summer Program at Erskineville's iconic industrial-site-come-cultural-hub. Visitors will be able to peruse offerings from more than 65 galleries under one roof, representing hundreds of exciting and inspiring contemporary artists.

With thousands of original works up for sale from both established and emerging artists all priced between $100 and $10,000 (with a whole bunch under $1000 and $500!), there’ll be something to satisfy every budget.

An estimated 14,000 visitors are expected to pop in to the newly-expanded Fair across the four days, with a suite of thrilling new galleries making their debut alongside some fan favourites. We’re excited to see fresh stuff from some local gems–like Oddball Gallery, which is bringing together a handful of Inner West legends like Em Hatton, who paints quirky nudes for the female gaze (with a healthy helping of prawns and bin chickens); Claire Cassidy (AKA Studio Flos), who constructs phenomenal hand-cut paper paintings with big femme energy; and Yang Qui (AKA Albatross Ceramic), whose mystical sculptures are accented by glossy dancing fruits and mushroom forests.

New to the Sydney Fair this year is also N Smith Gallery from Surry Hills, whose roster of emerging artists includes Sulman Prize winners Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro, award-winning First Nations artists Sally Scales and Dylan Mooney, and others.

The move to Carriageworks also brings a reimagined layout and refreshed dining options designed to elevate the entire Fair experience, offering more room to browse, sip and soak it all in. So you can grab a tipple from the bar, load up with a snack, let the kids burn up some energy in the new Children’s Art Studio curated by artist Tenyka Jay (featuring activities and free face painting), and make the most of the creative atmosphere and artistic activations.

The fascinating Artist in Action live art-making demonstrations are also back by popular demand, featuring an incredible lineup of creatives including Brad Turner (Brad Turner Collective), Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, artists from Hamley Studio, and more. Crowd favourite Jackie Case and her quirky “Art ATM” will also return for the fourth year running, promising plenty of illustrative surprises for event-goers; and Jason Parker will bring his large-scale suspended rotating floral mural to Sydney for the first time, alongside putting the finishing touches to his six-metre mural that he commenced onsite at the Melbourne Fair in August.

What are you waiting for? Book your tickets, prepare to mingle amongst all that arty action, and find a piece to take home.
