There’s a new way to play coming to Brisbane’s northside—rain, hail or shine.

Area 51 (who are behind those massive neon-lit playcentres scattered around Brisbane and beyond) are opening their biggest-ever indoor playground where you can run, jump, crawl and slide to your heart’s content.

Their seventh Queensland location will be landing at the Skygate entertainment precinct in the form of a whopping 7,000m2 purpose-built facility home to giant play zones. There’ll be climbing areas, trampolines, ninja-style obstacle courses, inflatables, a sports court, high ropes, a toddler zone, and even an in-house cafe to fuel up and keep the fun going.

Plus, it’s not just the little ones who can run amuck in the new space, with Area 51 hosting adults-only evening sessions too.

While some details of Area 51 Skygate are yet to be finalised, you can expect the most cutting-edge attractions and immersive experiences on the market. Just take a look at their recently opened $40 million playcentre in Ipswich with a legit snow world. Most importantly, Area 51 is fully airconditioned so it's sure to be in high demand when our signature scorching summers roll around.

“We are incredibly excited to bring one of our newest locations to this community and create a space where people of all ages can come together to play, connect, and make lasting memories,” said Area 51 World Chief Operating Officer Michael Affleck. “Our goal has always been to deliver more than just entertainment; we want to create a community hub that offers adventure, energy, and experiences for families, friends, and groups."

Plus, it's not the only northside opening in the works. Area 51 Strathpine is also in the works in the form of a 6,000sqm indoor play centre next to the brand-new Country Club Hotel, which will anchor Comiskey Group’s upcoming $50 million mega-complex with an indoor sporting and recreation facility. The fully airconditioned facility will bring climbing walls, a trampoline park, high ropes course, ninja zone, multi-storey playgrounds, giant inflatables, mega slides and sports courts to the 90 Gympie Road site.

Area 51 Skygate is expected to open in late 2027, joining DFO Brisbane, Queensland’s only 24/7 Woolworths and Landers Pocket—the 16-hectare entertainment hub that opened last year with a brewery, beer garden and mini golf.

Area 51 Strathpine is also expected to open in 2027.
