There is nothing we love more than the news of a new brunch spot to try out, and when it’s a tried and tested Gold Coast favourite making its way north, you just know we’re going to be one of the first people through the door.
Landing in Windsor’s new Colwill Place development, Bear Boy Espresso will be familiar to anyone who’s visited their Helensvale cafe, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a real treat. The cosy new space has replicated a few of the design features from its big brother, including the pink marble counter and that adorable logo on the wall. Here though, it’s more than just the counter that’s pink, with the whole interior a shade of coral, including a curved booth for larger groups in one corner. As well as indoor seating, there’s also a sunny deck outside, perfect for breezy mornings.
The menu has been adapted from the Gold Coast cafe, and truly, you should be ecstatic you no longer have to drive an hour south to try it. Currently, for the summer, it features the likes of mango and coconut hotcakes with mango coulis, Coyo ice cream, fresh mango and passionfruit curd; sweet corn and zucchini fritters with red pepper jam and rocket; and the epic buttermilk fried chicken and poached eggs with sriracha hollandaise on a sweet waffle.
After something a little less calorific? Bear Boy also dishes up a handful of healthful bowls, from acai bowls with granola and other toppings to nectarine and sweet potato salad. As we see it, if you opt for the healthy option, you can get a side of their banana bread topped with maple butter—don’t you think? There’s also a handful of burgers on the menu if breakfasting after midday just isn’t for you.
While you dig in, you can sip on your preferred caffeinated beverage made on Single O beans, Dominican Republic drinking chocolate, Prana Chai lattes, smoothies, Hrvst St cold press juices, probiotic kombucha or a Somersault slow brew soda. Bonus, afterwards you can squeeze in a little shopping at their Colwill Place neighbours, including fellow Gold Coast-moved-north-businesses The Borrowed Nursery and Nikkou Store.
