A Dancing With The Stars Spin-Off Hosted By Robert Irwin Has Been Filmed Right Here In Brisbane
It’s been a hot minute since Crocodile Hunter Junior, Robert Irwin, flexed his dance moves on the global stage, but the Queensland-born legend isn’t done yet with Dancing With The Stars—and this time he’s putting Brisbane in the spotlight too.
A new Dancing With The Stars spin-off has just wrapped filming in Brisbane, where 12 young ballroom hotshots dance their way to a coveted permanent position in the next season of the hit show.

Produced by BBC Studios, Dancing With The Stars: The Next Pro is hosted by Irwin (who was also the DWTS season 34 champion) and has been filmed in the landmarks of our arts and culture scene, including West End’s Thomas Dixon Centre—the home of Queensland Ballet.
Joining Irwin is Dancing With The Stars legend Mark Ballas (and Broadway star with Whitney Leavitt on Chicago for any Secret Lives fans out there) who will be teaming up with his mum Shirley Ballas (aka the icon on Strictly Come Dancing) to judge the competition.

The venture is supported by the Queensland Government, who are all about showcasing Brisbane to an international audience ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In fact, according to Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek, the production has contributed an estimated $7.2 million to the economy and employed around 110 local cast and crew.
It also cements the working relationship Screen Queensland shares with BBC Studios, who are also behind the highly anticipated Bluey feature film that’s being made right here.
“We’ve been delighted to work with BBC Studios to support their latest production in Queensland, which has taken full advantage of the expertise of our local crew, our stunning and versatile locations and facilities, as well as our enviable lifestyle for visiting cast and producers,” said Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney.
Dancing With The Stars: The Next Pro will air on Monday 13 July on ABC in the US.
