A Gritty Crime Series Set In Fortitude Valley Is Now Filming Starring Rupert Everett
Fortitude Valley—aka the backdrop to many of your late-night shenanigans—is officially getting the silver screen treatment with ABC announcing a gritty new crime series set in its midst.
Aptly named ‘Fortitude Valley’, the suspenseful crime thriller will focus on Brisbane’s underbelly “exploring family secrets, the corrupting force of power and the complicated truths behind the lies we tell”. The six-part series is now filming in Brisbane and has just announced award-winning English actor Rupert Everett will star. You might recognise him from My Best Friend's Wedding or as the voice of Prince Charming on Shrek.
Everett will be joining the award-winning First Nations actor Hunter Page-Lochard (Cleverman, The Newsreader) and the acclaimed Kat Stewart (Offspring, Underbelly).

Fortitude Valley is supported by Screen Queensland, with filming and post-production taking place entirely in our humble Sunshine State. While Queensland is no stranger to world-class blockbusters with state and federal incentives attracting major productions to our shores, this series is local through and through—showcasing the scale and skill of our homegrown industry.

And if the ABC is looking for any extras to play a dead body or the like, this writer would be more than happy to make herself available.
