The Fox Hotel Is Officially Going Back To Its Roots With The Revival Of Hotel Terminus

Since we first heard the news that the iconic Fox Hotel would be reborn following its three-year closure, we couldn’t be more stoked. And now it’s official: the new era for the Fox will see the southside staple return to its roots, with the revival of its original heritage name. We’re going back to Hotel Terminus, baby. 

With hospitality heavyweights Ghanem Group (Donna Chang, Blackbird, Iris) taking over, the fate of the beloved pub was sealed by a community vote—restoring the original identity and name of the multi-level dining, events and entertainment precinct. Seamlessly blending its storied past with modern design, Hotel Terminus’ upper levels have also been named by the people in late-night music lounge and cocktail bar Vixen Room and the Fox Rooftop. 

Behind the restored original facade, you can choose your own adventure across the four levels. Starting on the ground floor, the public long bar will return with a new entrance on Fish Lane and a 18-metre-high atrium. There will also be a bistro, serving elevated pub fare, a gaming lounge and a bottle shop. 

Moving on up, the first floor nods to the venue’s history of good times and even better parties with two impressive event spaces and a private dining room. Then on the top two levels, you’ll find craft cocktails and snacks served to the tune of live music and DJs at the Vixen Room, plus the Fox Rooftop: the place to be for golden hour and balmy evenings with expansive views of the CBD and cultural precinct.

“We’re bringing Hotel Terminus back to South Brisbane as both a celebration of its remarkable history and a re-energised next chapter in its evolution,” Ghanem Group Hospitality Director, Adonis Ghanem said.

“We were very interested to hear the public's suggestions on what to name the building. Most votes were to restore the original name, Hotel Terminus. However, we couldn't ignore the goodwill associated with The Fox, which received the second most votes. Vixen came in third, which complements the connection and feel between the cocktail music bar and the Fox Rooftop on the upper two levels.” 

Work is well underway for the new age of Hotel Terminus, with its reopening slated for mid-2026—marking a big year for Ghanem as they also make their first move into the suburbs with Everton Park's Alfi Eatery & Bar. In the meantime, you can check out Brisbane’s best new restaurants and bars here.
