Brisbane’s Famous Sunnybank Food Trail Is Coming Back This Year

By James Shackell

Start scrounging around for some change, because for the first time since 2019, Brisbane's favourite small-change event is returning this year. Yep, the Sunnybank Food Trail is back on 22 July, finally giving you the opportunity to spend that jar of gold coins you've been collecting from Marketplace sales (even though you absolutely wished they'd just stuck to notes at the time).

If you haven’t been to this one before, here's a quick rundown. For one day only, the restaurants, cafes and food vendors at Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park will set up a bunch of stalls and pop ups serving all sorts of delicious stuff—and the bite-sized dishes start from just $2 a pop.

Depending on how full your change jar is, you can eat your way through traditional dishes from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea and Malaysia—we're talking Japanese curry bowls, shallot pancakes, tempura prawn, takoyaki octopus balls and kung pao chicken, all ranging from $2-$5. Once again, the trail will be running from 12pm-8pm—so that's lunch and dinner sorted.

The full menu and map has already been unveiled, so you can start planning exactly what you're going to drop your cash on—though we can guarantee your eyes will be bigger than your stomach on the day. Head down to 358 Mains Road in Sunnybank, and bring the shrapnel.
