The humble pie, a most delicious and revered Aussie treat. Let’s be honest, we’ve all had our fare share of awful pies from convenience stores and petrol stations. Those days are over, friends. Brisbane is bursting with gourmet pies, from the delightfully sweet to the tantalisingly savoury. To help you get your pie on, we’ve brought together this list of some of Brisbane’s very best pies.

Fancy a sweet pie for your sweetie pie? Chester Street Bakery is what’s up. You’ll find a delightfully tangy lemon meringue pie, with a thick crust and topped with perfectly toasted, velvety meringue. You’ll also find chocolate cream pie, mini banoffee pies and one heck of a peanut butter and chocolate fudge pie. Take me, I’m yours!

Deagon and Jan Powers’ Markets

Yep, that’s right, The Goat Pie Guy creates his gourmet pies using the very best Australian Boer goat meat. You’ll find his store at Deagon stocked to the hilt with tasty treats and you can catch him at markets around town, like the Jan Powers Farmers Markets, selling his award-winning pies. Flavours include Himalayan, Indonesian, Jamaican, Goan, Bali, Tuscan and Moroccan slow-cooked pies, exploding with flavour.

Of course Jocelyn's Provisions is supplying us with amazing pies. Ever the traditionalist, you'll find family favourites like lamb and rosemary, beef and red wine, chicken and mushroom, beef and lamb pies on offer. The real trick is walking out of there with just the pie and avoiding scooping up armfuls of cake. Good luck with that.

American-inspired pies don’t come much better than the sweet delights on offer at South Side Diner. You can get your paws on apple and cherry pie as well as one heck of chocolate peanut butter pie too. All three are served with ice cream and, if you like, you can wash it all down with a  float or shake.

I think we can all agree that a fantastic pie goes excellently with a cold beer. This is where gastro-pub, Sixes and Sevens, really shines. On the menu you'll find a chicken and mushroom pie, with white sauce, and a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth butter puff lid. Wash it down with a cold craft beer and you’ll be in pie-loving heaven.

If you happen to find yourself prowling around South Bank with a hankering for Louisiana creole and pie, head directly to Bourbon Street. Finish off your hearty meal with a slice of Louisiana pecan pie served with that ooey-gooey caramel sauce or opt for the classic sweet potato pie.
