Woolloongabba just scored a groovy new burger joint and boy do we have some things to say. Sue’s Burgers & Shakes, who you might already know from their pumping Carindale location, has set up shop in ever-growing South/Ciy/SQ precinct, and definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to good burgs.

Channelling classic, old school American diner vibes, the venue manages to feel modern and retro at the same time, decked out in pastel blue and white-striped leather booths, red diner chairs, black and white floor tiles and globe lights hanging from the ceiling. There’s a handful of table outside if you’re willing to brave the heat, but space for groups of all sizes inside if not.

You might need to take your time looking over the menu because there is a lot on offer at Sue’s. Dishing up the same menu as their Carindale eatery, all your favourites are here, including those classic beef smash burgers, Nashville hot chicken burgers and every version of loaded fries you could think of.

If you’re unfamiliar with their cult-worthy stacks, the ones to try first are the Glazy Susan, featuring a beef patty, American cheese, crispy bacon, and Sue’s signature sauce on a Biscoff-glazed milk bun topped with crispy bacon bits and shredded cheese, and the Mac To The Future, with a beef patty, American cheese, onion, pickles, aioli and tomato sauce finished off with mac ‘n’ cheese inside a soft bun.

Don’t fill up too much just on the burgers and sides though, because Sue’s range of shake flavours will have your mouth-watering. Whether your go-to dessert flavour is Biscoff, cookies and cream or even dulce de leche there’s something for everyone. There's also an alcohol menu soon to come, if you'd prefer to just pair your burger with an ice cold beer.
