10th Jul 2020

If there was ever a time to shop local, it's now. And there's plenty of the Gold Coast’s local growers, producers and makers back at the markets, ready to fill your fridge and pantry with the freshest produce you can buy.

So give the supermarket a miss and instead head to one of the Gold Coast’s best markets this weekend.

Twilight Markets

It was a short but sweet love affair with Miami Marketta's drive-thru market, because as of this weekend this Gold Coast market is open for dine-in and takeaway. Ready to dish up a delicious range of street eats on both Friday and Saturday night, there will be spaced out seating for you to sit down and enjoy your nosh at. While it's not essential, you can book your table ahead of time to make sure that you're not left shovelling in your dinner while standing. Find out more here.

When: Friday 10 July and Saturday 11 July, 5pm to 8pm

Where: 23 Hillcrest Parade, Miami

Great for an early evening stroll, between your beach dip and dinner at a nearby restaurant, Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets are re-launching this weekend. Held both Friday and Saturday, wander the foreshore and discover local fashion and handmade goods, with a side of ocean breezes.

When: Friday 10 July and Saturday 11 July, 4pm - 9pm

Where: The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise

Produce Markets

Strategically located at the entrance to Currumbin’s fertile valley—meaning a shorter distance from source to market—Currumbin Community Market is certain to become your mid-week ritual. Fill your basket with organic fruits and vege, meats, jams and baked goods, then stay for the breezy live music, picnic blanket hangs and activities for the little tots.

When: Every Thursday; 7am to 11am

Where: Opposite Currumbin RSL, Currumbin Creek Road

A weekly must-do on any Palm Beach or Currumbin dwellers’ weekend social calendar, the Palm Beach Currumbin Farmers Markets is one of the best farmers markets on the Gold Coast. This well-patronised market has truckloads of local, leafy, tasty things to eat, so if you’re in charge of the BBQ salad this weekend, make sure you stop here. This is also a plastic bag-free market, so BYO reusable vessels to carry your goodies.

When: Saturday 11 July; 6am to 11:30am

Where: Palm Beach Currumbin High School, Thrower Drive, Palm Beach

This northern Gold Coast market has everything you need—and plenty you don’t, but you want anyway. From fresh fruit and veg to flowers and, of course, street food stalls; you’ll love the leafy surrounds, cruisy live music and no-frills local vibe of the weekly gathering at the New Helensvale Farmers Market.

When: Saturday 11 July; 6am to 10.30am

Where: Helensvale State High School, 243 Discovery Drive, Helensvale

If community vibes and homemade chutneys are your weekend jam, then trot along to the Burleigh Farmers Markets on any given Saturday from 7am until noon, where an abundance of farm fresh produce sits amongst flower pop-ups, collectables and international street food stalls. Clear your afternoon post visit, you’ll be in the stay-at-home-and-bake-apple-strudel kind of mood.

When: Saturday 11 July; 7am to 12pm

Where: Burleigh Heads State School, 1750 Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads

On a Saturday morning, check out the quaint Marina Mirage Farmers Market. From traditional Portuguese tarts to French savoury crepes, there’s a treat for every taste bud. While you sip coffee and inhale a freshly-baked croissant, mosey on down to the marina for the real show—rows and rows of million-dollar boats.

Where: Marina Mirage, Main Beach
