Heads up, Gold Coast market-lovers. December is here, and with it comes a full-blown summer and Christmas just around the corner. Yes, we know, we know. Although you might be avoiding thoughts of Christmas, it's coming up quickly and we recommend getting your Christmas shopping done early before it's complete chaos. And where better to shop than at a local market, supporting small businesses?

In November, the Urban List team is focusing on shopping local and supporting small businesses AKA you'll find us at the markets every weekend. Grab your reusable bags, slip on your Birks and hit up 30 of the best markets on the Gold Coast/Yugambeh language region this December.

Twilight Markets

Miami Marketta

Our love affair with Miami Marketta started a long time ago and it’s not finishing any time soon. This iconic local gem is held every Friday and Saturday night (and on a smaller scale on Wednesdays) and pulls together some of the best ethnic food stalls from across the Coast. Pair it with an electric vibe, a revolving roster of toe-tapping bands and DJs, multiple cocktail bars, a dessert hall, fashion stalls and a buzzing family-friendly crowd, and you’ve got one of the best markets on the Gold Coast. Emerald Lakes Market

A top night market for our Northern Gold Coast friends, the Emerald Lakes Market specialises in gourmet food and creative crafts. Pop by any Thursday evening from 3pm until 7:30pm and you'll find a delightful array of locally-owned stalls showcasing fresh produce, handmade crafts, takeaway food and pet products. Oh yes, this night market is very pet-friendly.

Dreamworld Moonlight Night Market

If you’re partial to a bit of street food and love a twilight foodie market, listen up. The Moonlight Night Markets at Dreamworld are one of the Gold Coast’s newest night markets and the twilight markets are packed with unreal street food, sip-worthy drinks and live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night, from 5pm to 9pm. Best of all, entry is just $2 or free for children under 13 years old.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Night Market

If you’re looking for things to do this Friday, the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Market is where it’s at. Soak up the great atmosphere as you traipse around undercover in the lush sanctuary, bop your head to live music and grab a drink or two at the bar. Entry’s free, so hop to it.

Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets

Great for an early evening stroll, between your beach dip and dinner at a nearby restaurant, Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets have got to be your go-to this weekend. Held Wednesday, Friday and Saturday during the summer, wander the foreshore and discover local fashion and handmade goods, with a side of ocean breezes. From artisan delights to handmade foodie gifts and kid-friendly goodies, you’re spoilt for choice at these balmy twilight markets.

Labrador Community Christmas Market

Christmas Markets GC

Broadwater Parklands

Perhaps the largest and most iconic Gold Coast Christmas markets, get in the Christmas spirit at the annual Christmas Markets GC, which will transform the Broadwater Parklands into a winter wonderland from Friday 15 December to Sunday 17 December. Over 100 stalls will be selling everything you need to make it a seriously festive Christmas this year, plus kids rides, gourmet Christmas food, roving characters, glittering lights and all the ingredients for a merry time.

HOTA Christmas Twilight Markets

Get jingly with it and celebrate Christmas the right way at the HOTA Christmas Twilight Market, which is set to be an evening of festive folly. Feast on the Gold Coast’s best gourmet street eats and decadent desserts, browse through bespoke boutiques and find one-of-a-kind gifts, all under the canopy of twinkling festoon lights. There will be amazing live entertainment (Mariah will be playing, obviously), bespoke Christmas decorations, kids entertainment and plenty of chances for an ‘elfie’ with Santa. Sign us up.

Surfers Paradise Christmas Twilight Market

You’ll find sand (not snow) and market stalls along The Esplanade on Saturday 9 December, where you’ll be able to score a sweet deal on a range of bespoke homemade gifts. You’ll find it hard not to treat yo’ elf (we couldn’t resist) with artisan handmade gifts, boutique clothing and accessories and spectacular Christmas decorations from a huge array of stalls. Grab your little helpers because there will be live tunes, kids activities and loads of stocking stuffers.

The Gold Coast Potters Association will be hosting a gorgeous arts and crafts Christmas market to bring the local community together and celebrate this wonderful time of year. Handmade stylish homewares, jewellery, accessories, music and loads more await, so grab your Christmas list and your wallet and make tracks. You’re sure to be on Santa’s nice list as you’ll be supporting local small businesses and artists.

Her Wardrobe Markets

New wardrobe? We think yes. Her Wardrobe Markets are held twice monthly and this is a must visit market if you’re looking for the Gold Coast's best collection of second-hand clothes, shoes and accessories from fabulous local sellers. 

Kicking off at 9am, there’s plenty to do and see with a coffee shop nearby to wake you up as you find all those little gems to add to your wardobe, all while looking after the planet by shopping for pre-loved items. There's plenty of hidden treasures for you to find at Her Wardrobe Markets, but be sure to bring your own bags and swing by ATM first for the $2 coin entry.

If there ever was a market institution on the Gold Coast, it would have to be the Carrara Markets. Taking the title of Australia's largest marketplace, Carrara Markets is home to over 300 food stalls, variety stalls and attractions, in addition to a revolving lineup of special events like plant sales and book fairs. Plus, these family-friendly markets are open every Saturday and Sunday, so there's no reason to miss out on this sprawling marketplace that's kind on the wallet.

Yatala Drive In Boot Bargains Market

Who doesn’t love a cheeky bargain? For all our thrifty penny pinchers out there, you need to head to the Yatala Drive-In on the third Sunday of every month to score deals at Yatala’s Boot Bargain Markets. Vintage clothing, accessories, knick knacks and even fresh produce will be filling up car boots and beckoning you to snag a bargain. With all your leftover coins ($2 coin entry), you can afford to treat yourself at the retro 1950s diner.

Canungra Village Markets

Soak up fresh country air at the Canungra Village Markets, held in the beautiful hinterland town of Canungra every first Sunday of the month. Only 25 minutes from Nerang, enjoy the drive out to Canungra and spend a slow morning browsing the stalls filled with handmade gifts, pet products, local produce, breakfast meals and an epic car boot sale. Doggies on leashes are also welcome and they can order a puppachino to go.

One of our favourite Gold Coast markets and the perfect place to pick up a unique homegrown gift are the iconic The Village Markets. On the first and third Sunday of every month, you can muse over local designers, shoulder sway to live musicians and dig your teeth into some delicious street food.

We can almost guarantee you’ll be walking away with an empty wallet with the likes of ceramics, homewares, bohemian linen threads and accessories, all-natural beauty products and so much more.

Paradise Point Art And Craft Market

The northern Gold Coast seems to be in short supply of funky markets, so when one pops up, you check it out. We love everything about the Paradise Point Art and Craft Market—from unique artisan gifts to fashionable clothes, stunning flower displays and adorable knick knacks you didn’t know you needed (but definitely do), there’s something for everyone. On the fourth Sunday of every month, this boutique pop up market is positioned on the stunning Paradise Point Esplanade, so have a wander and grab a coffee at one of the gorgeous nearby cafes.

The Art and Craft on the Coast crew never miss, and this market is testament to that. The Burleigh Heads Art and Craft is held centrally in Justin's Park on the last Sunday of every month and we think it's the perfect way to start a day of adventuring around Burleigh. We dig the laidback vibes and array of boutique stalls—also, don't forget the coffee van.

Here you'll find lots of local crafts, unique gifts, plants, food vans, coffee and live music by local musos. We recommend hitting a local cafe after for a post-market brekky.

Beechmont Markets

The Beechmont Markets tick every box with breathtaking views, fresh local produce, homemade goods, plants, arts and crafts, a lush community garden, live music, yoga classes and much more. Yeah, they’ve got the goods. On the third Sunday of every month, jump in the car and enjoy a meandering road trip out to Beechmont but make sure to pack a picnic rug, so you can grab your market goodies and soak up the views. Doggos on leashes are also welcome, so no one has to miss out.

Our northern friends can thank their lucky stars they have another gorgeous market making its mark on the Northern Gold Coast. One of the Gold Coast's newest markets, Our Community Market prides itself on, well, community.
