Some of Melbourne’s most exciting events are kicking off this week Listers! After your cruisey four-day week, no doubt you’ll need a pick me up (or five). Here are the five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week!
SHORTSTOP DONUTS ON DEMAND
If you’re going to work crabby about your five-day week, here’s some news that may lift your sad spirit. Starting on Monday for this week only, you’ll be able to order some of Melbourne’s best donuts and have them delivered to your place of choice. Prahran-based LVLY has teamed up with Shortstop donuts to give you access to the holey delights, so you can send out plenty of donut-love to the world. Might as well add a few for yourself, while you’re already ordering on the website.
SCARF TUESDAY DINNERS
To coincide with National Refugee Week, Melbourne-based social enterprise Scarf is running a two-course dinner at The Lincoln every Tuesday this month. Scarf trains young refugees and asylum seekers, and more than 70 per cent of graduates go on to find meaningful employment. So enjoy a feel-good dinner in one of Melbourne’s oldest pubs, you’ll undoubtedly be pleasing the soul and the stomach.
THE FLAVOUR EXCHANGE KICKS OFF
Flavour Exchange kicks off this Thursday night at The Atrium in Federation Square and, if you haven’t heard, it’s set to be one of Melbourne’s top foodie night markets this season. For two nights you’ll have unrestricted access to Victoria’s finest produce from seasonal fresh fruits and veg, to wine, beer and cider. To keep you going through the night, there’ll be a range of hot and cold, sweet and savoury bites AND alcoholic drinks. Don’t miss this chance to stock up for the long winter, Listers! Tickets are available here.
PROPER & SON'S ROAST LUNCH
Break up your usual Friday grocery shop this week at the South Melbourne Market. This month Melbourne’s much-loved Proper & Son are hosting a roast lunch from 12pm – 4pm every market day to showcase South Melbourne’s freshest seasonal produce. There’s no veg and gravy here, with Proper & Son offering a different light salad and slow cooked meat every week for local market-goers. Coming in under $20 a head, what a perfect way to start (or finish) your week.
THE GEM CELEBRATES THEIR NINTH BDAY
Legendary Collingwood bar and restaurant The Gem turns nine this week and, in the venue’s typical fashion, they’ll be having an awesome birthday bash complete with live music (think rockabilly tunes from Hillbilly Heaven), drinks, epic BBQ food and some late-night DJ action. We hear that The Gem Bar & Dining Room have picked some of their favourite brews that they’ll be giving away for free on the night. If you like your brisket juicy and your beers cold, this is one party you definitely don’t want to miss. Happy birthday, you BBQ kings!
