You’ll be pleased to hear this week is all about eating, eating and more eating! Some of Melbourne’s best annual events will combine charity dinners with fantastic meals, guests or produce so you can dine (aka stuff yourself silly) guilt-free in the upcoming week! Keep an eye out for new openings too, we’ve heard it’ll be quite a challenge to visit them all (but we’re sure gonna try!). Wrap yourselves around our list of top things to do in Melbourne this week, Listers.
THE ULTIMATE OYSTER FEAST BY FEAST OF MERIT
In some North-Eastern Indian communities, a wealthy member of the village will liquidate all assets to throw one truly ginormous feast. Feast of Merit is hosting a Melbourne-equivalent event of this tonight. Get the picture yet?? This oyster feast/fundraiser/community event will support YGAP’s 5cent campaign, which aims to raise funds for communities abroad that need it the most. For a mere $50 note (with change), get your year’s worth of oyster-induced happiness and a glass of sparkling on arrival. This is going to be (literally, I’m not being speculative here) one of Melbourne’s biggest seafood events of the year. Book here!
MILK THE COW CHEESE EVENT
If you’ve finished our round up of the 50 best cheese dishes in Melbourne, props to you. You’re probably feeling very cream-deprived right about now. Always coming to the rescue of Melbourne’s hard-core cheesy-dairy lovers, Milk the Cow is hosting a four-course menu tonight featuring….cheese (duh). You get free wine too, if you’re still mourning the loss of Good Beer Week. Don’t be sculling this stuff though—these boutique wines have been expertly matched to each delicious cheesy dish on the menu. Scout out tickets here.
DINE WITH A HEART (AND 10 MELBOURNE CHEFS)
If last year’s official Dine with Heart dinner was anything to go by, too many cooks definitely did not spoil the broth. The annual event will be held on Tuesday this week, and will boast chefs from Luxembourg, Bomba and Huxtaburger to name a few. The event will raise thousands of dollars to feed those who can’t afford a healthy meal. To summarise then, if you’re feeling particularly slow this morning: 10 of Melbourne’s best chefs + charity = an event which will fill your tummy and soul to the very brim. When else are you going to get the chance to feast on creations by 10 of Melbourne’s best chefs?
LEARN WHAT YOU'RE EATING AT PEI
If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about gorgeous, local Victorian produce but can’t drag yourself away from your desk, we understand. Pei is hosting a five-course dinner this Tuesday, and throughout the evening you’ll have the opportunity to meet and greet the local producers who put your delectable meal on the plate. Isn’t hands-on learning just the best? Guests include representatives from Blackmore Wagyu, Journey Wings and Holy Goat. And for $95 per person, this is a bargain you can’t afford to miss!
ALL THIS WEEK!
Listers, we don’t even care that the weather is supposed to be awful this week! You want to know why? There are so many places we’ve been patiently (not) waiting for to open. AND. THEY’RE. OPENING. THIS. WEEK! Mediterranean wonder Woody P on Flinders Lane is set to join the ranks of Melbourne’s best restaurants when it opens tonight. Opening tomorrow, Jack Horner is a Brunwick East grocer-deli-cafe-corner store under one enormous roof. Sweet-tooth? We’ve got something for you too. Adriano Zumbo’s Fancy Nance is expected to make her debut this week too.
And that's our round up of the best things to do in Melbourne this week folks! Check back on Thursday to make sure you don't miss out on the biggest Melbourne weekend events.
