Birds are chirping, it’s cold but sunny, and pollen’s in the air—spring is definitely on its way. And what better way to end your winter hibernation by sweeping the streets for some food truck feastin’, vego Korean dinners, and edgy AF farshunnn.

Here are five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Tuesday 22 August


Embrace the very best of old-school Korean food with everything pickled and fermented with a modern twist at plant based restaurant, Transformer. With a bit of sweet and spice, it’s a night for vegos or keen food enthusiast to lull yourself into a Korean food coma through a four-course dinner and plenty of sides.

Dedicated Potterheads it’s your time to shine when Completely Improvised Potter comes to Melbourne this week to make all your sweet fanfic dreams come true. Take a seat in the audience and you get to pick what happens in this siriusly improvised night of laughter.

If you don’t enjoy your night then you get your money back, for reals. How’s that for some Gryffindor-worthy courage and confidence.

Thursday 24th August


Strut your stuff straight off the edgy catwalk with the latest from Aoyama Archive. Popping up at the former Magic Johnston studio in Collingwood, Aoyama Archive will be selling all the good stuff like Comme des Garcons, Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake, and a whole lot more.

And you can actually see models doing their thing on old television monitors set up around the studio because #aesthetic.

Japanese café Chotto are throwing an all inspired Ghibli feast all weekend for fans of their work to fawn over. You may not recognise the name straight away but Studio Ghibli are the genius’ behind “My Neighbour Totoro” and “Spirited Away” just to name a few. Treat yourself to a totally kawaii five-course menu and satisfy those anime dreams you never knew you had.

Friday 25 August


It’s the battle of the food trucks this weekend. Biggie Smalls, Greek Street Food and Mary And A Little Lamb (just to name three) will all be in the same spot come Friday to determine which is the champion: Souva vs Kebab. Vegan-friendly, with the appearance of Woking Amazing, this is an all-age, FREE, and licensed event to embrace the last of your winter bod.

And most importantly, it’s dog-friendly.

Bring your kids or be the kid, Friday night Netflixin’ will just have to wait.
