5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Steff Tan - 18 Sep 2017

We dunno about you, but the chance to sing Everything is Awesome all night long surrounded by thousands of LEGO pieces and no kids in sight sounds like a pretty rad Thursday night. Between that and shaking up a Monday with the Fringe Fest, this week is looking promising. Now only if Melbourne’s weather would join in...

Here are five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

All Week

If the thought of watching IT makes you crap your pants, then A Showgirl: Deconstructed might be more your speed. It's a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival: a boundary-pushing performance from Carletta, The Great. This performance will “tear apart” (in a charismatic, not IT, way) a showgirl to expose the real woman behind all that burlesque glamour. It’s all about celebrating the female form while taking an in-depth look at the multi-layered art-form of a showgirl. There’s nudity, swearing, and all your fave adult themes so this definitely isn’t one for the kids.

Where: The Butterfly Club (Upstairs), Carson Place, Off Little Collins Street
When: 10:00pm,  Monday 18- Sunday 24 September

2-for-1 At Huxtaburger

Ready your stomachs, because for National Cheeseburger Day, Huxtaburger are doing 2-for-1 burgers all-day. Every single juicy Huxtaburger is up for grabs across Melbourne today, and the celebrations don’t end there. Even if you’re struck down with hay-fever or an incredible hangover, Huxtaburger will deliver the goods to your door. So grab your best mate, dog, or cat, and get celebrating.

Where: Huxtaburger, all Melbourne stores
When: All Day 11:00am-11:00pm, Monday

The first Dessert Degustation night at Stokehouse completely sold out (not surprising when it's hosted by new Head of Pastry, Chef Lauren Eldrige). Eldrige has completed work experience at Osteria Francescana, the world’s No. 1 Restaurant in 2016 which is, you know, just a tad impressive. Eldrige has decided to host another scrumptious dessert degustation night, and tickets are selling fast. Held at Stokehouse, a lucky handful can feast their eyes, mouths, (and Instas) on a decadent menu of desserts.

Where: Stokehouse St Kilda, 30 Jacka Boulevard, Saint Kilda

Women for Women Africa will be hosting “A Pathway To Hope” cocktail party this Wednesday. The not-for-profit organisation empowers women and children through education. Their mission? To beat poverty in Kenya. Proudly sponsored by Melbourne’s Glamp Cocktail Bar, guests will receive a complimentary drink on entry, with canapés served in the evening. There'll also be a bunch of raffles and auctions for a good cause. Dig deep.

Where: Glamp Cocktail Bar Level 2, 267 Little Collins Street
When: 6:30pm, Wednesday 20 September

Thursday 21 September

Take a figurative sip from the Fountain of Youth when you head to the adult only LEGO night at Chadstone Shopping Centre this Thursday. You can challenge the Master Builders for all the glory, or just chill out for a night with your only worry being stray LEGOs lying around. Because really, stepping on them still hurts like hell at any age. There's build prizes up for grabs for the most impressive LEGO too. Everything really is awesome.

Where: LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Chadstone Shopping Centre
When: 6:30pm-9:00pm

The Royal Melbourne Show is just around the corner too (boo yeah). Better start planning your show bags...
