5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

By Steff Tan - 09 Oct 2017

Summer’s coming, which means hitting the gyms and healthy diets…lol jokes. If trekking over to the food Truck Park and epic birthday bashes counts as exercise, then this week’s definitely one for you. But if you insist on working out, we recommend this week's silent disco. That counts as leg day right?

#fitspo inspired or not, here are five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

All Week

Unleashed upon Melbourne’s Art Centre in the CBD, local artists Christian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney bring to you the House of Mirror—part of the 2017 Melbourne Festival. It's a literal labyrinth of mirrors—15,000 kilograms of mirrored glass to be exact—for me, myself, and I. So if you’ve been meaning to take a good, hard look at yourself plus some…spooky additions, swing by and check it out. We recommend going in the evening just to freak you out that little bit more.

Where: Arts Centre Melbourne, 100 St Kilda Road
When: 4:00pm-10:00pm Monday to Friday & 10:00am-10:00pm on weekends

The legendary team behind The Food Truck Park have teamed up with the Frankston City Council to present the 2017 Seaside Street Food Festival, jam-packed with heavenly food, twilight artisan markets, a craft beer bar and some all-around quality entertainment. Reppin’ Melbourne’s food trucks will be more than 50 truckies including Biggie Smalls, Greek Street Food, Manny’s Doughnuts, Poke Time, and Paella Truck. If your mouth didn’t just water, are you even Melbourne? The fest will run from this Wednesday to Sunday, but if you already have weekend plans…well it’s time to pull a sickie. #getonit

Where: Pier Promenade, Frankston
When: 5:00pm-10:00pm Wednesday & 11:00am-10:00pm Thursday to Sunday

It’s not every day you turn 10 years old, so the team over at Red Spice Road are throwing a massive party. Think food, booze, music, and prizes in the bustling and boisterous environment of a Hawker style market and that’s what you’ll get with tickets to this exclusive event. And if you’re trying to save some cash, Red Spice are now throwing a competition where one lucky winner will score four VIP tickets to the event and return transfer in a fiery red Ferrari stretch. Just imagine all the possible snaps. Loads of other prizes are up for grabs too all through-out the night.

Where: Red Spice Road, 27 McKillop Street Melbourne
When: 6:00pm

Bestowing their royal-ness on us lowly peasants, Circa, The Prince will be opening up its doors for an evening dedicated to Dewar’s White Label Scotch whiskies. Hosted by Dewar’s ambassador, Andy Wren, the evening will showcase a collection of over 60 high-quality single malts coupled with an inside look into the golden liquid. There’ll also be a fine dining experience to the night courtesy of Head Chef, Shaun Haggarty. And of course the four-course menu will complement the whiskies available for tasting.

Where: Circa, The Prince, 2 Acland St, St Kilda
When: 7:00pm

Australia’s biggest silent disco is hitting St. Kilda this week to give the warm weather a proper welcome. The wireless headphones will have three different frequencies so you can pick whether you want to belt your lungs out to some 90s sing-alongs (no one will hear you) or drop all the moves to some RnB. Presented by the grooviest team over at The Switch, they've also stitched up a beer hall, an army of food trucks, and amusement rides. What more do you want? Final release tickets are still available so get in quick. P.S It’s defs an over 18 event. P.P.S There’s free glitter

Where: St. Kilda Foreshore
When: 5:00pm-10:00pm
