5 Awesome Things To Do In Melbourne This Week

Melbourne–eat your heart out. There's some awesome events going down across town this week. The much-awaited MFWF is back with a vengeance, guaranteed to stretch your jeans and your wallet. If food isn't your thing (err, why are you here?) then you can get your happy on during the International Day of Happiness. 

Buckle up. Here are 5 awesome things to do this week. 

All Week

Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

WARNING: These MFWF events may cause heart palpitations, lightheadedness and drooling. South Yarra’s, Oriental Teahouse is hosting the ‘United Nations of Dumplings’, which will serve up sixteen exotic flavours for a two-hour-only experience. Expect tastes like Nepalese turkey momo’s, bathing in tomato-cilantro sauce and crispy Polynesian crab wontons. Dumplings don’t tickle your fancy? Head down to David’s and be one of the 60 people demolishing 60kg of prawns and 60 bottles of wine

Brickman Awesome

Look where you step, because the talented Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught’s new LEGO exhibition has arrived. Our feet hurt just thinking about how many Lego blocks he stepped on in the 5,000 hours of building time spent designing these things. The Brickman will be unveiling the tallest LEGO model in the Southern Hemisphere, a NASA SLS rocket and a life-sized model of the new Toyota Camry. One word…insane.

Lobster High Tea

Bless the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival for making all our dreams come true. The guys over at The Langham have recognised Melbourne’s love of lobster EVERYTHING, so have created a Lobster High Tea. Their lobster-heavy menu will feature lobster and spanner crab rolls dressed generously with lobster remoulade and even the classic warm lobster croque monsieur. Bring it on.

Autumn Scarf Dinner

A dinner for a good cause? Sign us up. In line with Cultural Diversity Week, the social enterprise, Scarf, will be hosting dinner at Stomping Ground Beer Hall to assist young people get a start in the hospitality industry. The chef’s over at Stomping Ground will be dishing out mouth-watering stuff, like their Black Angus short rib with pearl onions and black cabbage.

How to be happy

This event is addressing the age-old question: how to be happy? Is it success? Fame? Fortune? Or is happiness as simple as reaching 10k Instagram followers? Three experts will discuss their personal experience and knowledge on what makes 21st Century humans happy. BYO smile.
