All-you-can-eat oysters, food truck mayhem, a Tarantino-themed ball, a hybrid food-cycling event and nightly changing desserts by flavour—yep, it’s all happening this week in Melbourne. We’re not messing about here.
Check out our list of 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.
Dessert by Flavour at Melba Restaurant | Southbank
Attention all dessert-lovers, your prayers have finally been answered by Melba’s pastry team! They knew you were praying for different flavour twists on four classic desserts—cupcakes, macarons, tiramisu and eclairs—and they've delivered in spades this week. Here’s the lineup: head to Melba on Tuesday if you're a Maltesers tragic, Wednesday for Kahlua lovers, Thursday if Tim Tams rock your boat, Friday if you're looking for all things Nutella, Saturday for the Vittoria coffee drinkers, and Sunday for a spot of well-deserved Baileys. Phew! Your palate cleanser after indulging in all this amazingness is a Lindt chocolate foundation… seriously. And in case this hasn’t yet satisfied your sweet tooth cravings, Melba’s iconic M&M naan bread topped with connoisseur ice cream will also be on offer. Go on, reserve your spot here... summer bod season is well and truly over.
Feast of Merit’s 5cent Oyster Feast | Richmond
All-you-can-eat oysters… say what?! Yep, it’s happening at Feast Of Merit’s Fundraiser for YGAP’s 5cent campaign, which aims to give children in poverty improved access to education. Heck, that’s one good cause. They'll have 2,000 oysters ready for you to take on, for $45 a head—so get booking. Limited tickets numbers are available here.
Welcome to Thornbury Twilight Market
With the cooler weather rolling in, night markets are where it's at folks—and Welcome to Thornbury is certainly doing it right. The twilight market is their first major event of the year, and it’s not only great food and drinks on offer—homewares from stores such as Pheonix And The Turtle and select handmade jewellery from local designer And O Design are joining in on the action. Now, back to the food… local heroes Super Taco and Mr Burger, plus many more, will be there!
The 2nd Annual Tarantino Ball At 24 Moons | Northcote
After last year’s success, our beloved late night inner city bar is throwing their second Tarantino Ball runnin’ from dusk til dawn. A warning: this is not like your friends’ themed birthday party. This for die-hard Tarantino fans who are willing to go all out with their get-up. The prizes are worth it, trust us. They will be playing all your favourite hits from the movies, plus there will be Vampire GoGo dancers and $5 Sailor Jerry shakes. Sound good? Check out the website for booking details!
The Tweed Ride | Rutherglen
We definitely see the point in cycling when it involves food, wine and dress-ups too. Victoria’s High Country calls all chaps, dandies and bon vivants to don their best vintage attire for a gentle 15km cycle, interrupted by 3 delicious food and wine stops. So, dig up those tweed jackets, plaid skirts, bowler hats and retro bikes for what promises to be a jolly good day in Rutherglen. Secure your ticket here!
