The end of July in nearing, which means we can see the light at the end of this cold, wintery tunnel. While Melbourne may still be freezing, it’s also promising to keep us entertained this week. You can keep your mind off the winter chill through celebrating Christmas in July, or taking a sourdough cooking class! Here are 5 awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

Monday 25th

Christmas in July Party

Welcome to Thornbury is delivering the goods yet again, and they’re bringing Christmas in July to Melbourne. This chilly Monday night will feature eggnog, presents, Christmas jumpers, and festive decorations! Get out those daggy Christmas jumpers and go searching for the mistletoe–the most extravagant Christmas jumper wins! There’ll also be a Golden Ticket hidden somewhere in the venue, making for the ultimate Christmas gift. Eggnog, mulled wine, and mead will be poured along with the usual beer on tap, and your usual food truck favourites like Mr Burger and Bites on Wheels will be there to keep you festive.

Sourdough Cooking Classes at Locavore

Ever dreamt of learning how to make bread, but never quite mustered up the courage? Now’s your chance, master chefs! Locavore is offering up a Sourdough workshop this Tuesday night that goes for two and a half hours! Head down to Lilydale to score a lesson on how to bake some of the best goods you can find. Five Senses Coffee Classes

Five Senses know how seriously us Melburnians take our coffee, and that’s why they’re offering an Espresso Fundamentals class. These sessions are suitable for all levels of experience, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an experienced barista. The class runs for 3 hours and will give you all the need-to-know about brewing shots, adjusting brewing variables–and obviously tasting the actual coffee!
