This week is the start of May, Listers! A new month brings a whole new array of eats, events and things to do in Melbourne. Here are our picks for the best events this week if your diary is looking a little sparse.
Saké Restaurant & Bar's new Autumn menu
Located on the glistening waterfront of the Yarra River, Saké Restaurant & Bar is releasing a new, seasonal autumn menu that is guaranteed to be a hit. Known for its contemporary Japanese cuisine in Melbourne’s chock-a-block foodie scene, why not bring mum along for a treat this Mother’s Day? The view is spectacular, but we have a feeling you may be a little distracted by the even better food.

Winter Picnics at Grub Food Van
Here at The Urban List HQ, we love our picnics. So you can imagine our excitement when we heard the Grub Food Van was extending their kitchen hours to dinnertime! Pull out the picnic rugs, snuggle into Grub’s cosy greenhouse, and enjoy a feast of Melbourne’s freshest, seasonal eats this winter. Cold weather, what cold weather?!
Grub Food Van | 87-89 Moor Street, Fitzroy
Dinners available from May 1st, visit the website for more details
Oyster Frenzy at The Botanical
May (otherwise known as the month of oysters) brings you another event for seafood-worshippers everywhere. For a mere $69, you can enjoy unlimited oysters at The Botanical this Wednesday. All oysters are served au naturaaal, just the way they should be! Make it into a fabulous night out with friends and family, as long as they don’t mind the sight of you stuffing your face (gracefully, of course).

Make a Terrarium for Mother’s Day
Stuck on what to get your mum? We’ve got you covered. Amy Wong from Petite Green is hosting a terrarium making session this Thursday at Work-Shop (terrariums are those cool teensy miniature scenes in glass jars…). All you have to bring is yourself and a glass container, everything else is provided. You won’t ever be worried about last minute gifts after this lesson!
Make a Terrarium for Mother’s Day | 7th May
$80 per person | For more details or to book, visit the Work-Shop website
The Human Rights Arts & Film Festival
