The sight of the blossoming purple flowers of the Jacaranda trees is a friendly reminder that the real frosty season is over and there are warmer climates ahead. The Jacaranda is typically earmarked with the coming of summer and Christmas. (according to the jingle) Though not native, the floral tree is an Australian icon in the plant community and a welcome beacon to the tail end of the year.
To help you get your best glimpse of the purple bloom here is the best places to find Jacaranda trees in Melbourne:

University Of Melbourne

Each spring and summer the University of Melbourne campus bursts with the indigo and purple blend of Jacaranda flowers. The victorian-style buildings and steps are typically littered with petals—transforming the tertiary environment into a bright and floral wonderland.

Royal Botanical Gardens

Edinburgh Gardens

A real northside hot spot—Edi Gardens pulls in the masses no like no other. Each summer, groups of people take shelter under the blossoming Jacarandas that surround the perimeter of the park. Under the purple blend of petals, many a Christmas catch-up and picnic take place— one of the best jacaranda spots in Melbourne for sure.

Parliament Gardens

Just a short walk up the steps from Parliament station you'll discover the pristine gardens aside from Victoria's Parliament house. Adorned with the Coles Fountain sculpture, this gated off park feels like an oasis of nature amongst the busy city. The Jacarandas here in spring and summer make the space feel extra special, and are a great spot to recharge.

Amongst the North Melbourne region of Parkville, many a Jacaranda comes to bloom. Across both Royal Parade and Royal Park, you'll see a flurry of the purply-blue flowers—adding that special time of the year feels to the area. Whether you are commuting through or live close by, Parkville has some of the best jacaranda trees in Melbourne.
