Melbourne Music Week is set to return in December, and this year, the program will be spread over three months to revitalise the local arts scene.

The free and ticketed program will take place slightly later this year with the aim to be closer to a COVID normal. Wednesday 9 December to Sunday 28 February are the dates to note down, and you can expect an entirely local program to further support the states rich and diverse music industry.

To align with restrictions, MMW will open with outdoor events as well as more intimate. small-capacity performances, with a plan to move into larger indoor gigs later in the program once it’s safe to do so.

It’s estimated over 200,000 people in Victoria’s music industry have lost work during the COVID-19 pandemic, and that’s why there will be various support programs in place for venues and independent events during this year’s MMW.

The full program will be announced on Wednesday 25 November. You can keep up to date on everything Melbourne Music Week here

In case you missed it, the NGV is also reopening this year.
