Nothing quite tickles the fancy of Melburnians like a secret, clandestine bar; hidden in plain sight but accessible to those in the know. You may remember last year’s Secret Gin bar atop the QT building in the city, this year it’s coming back in a big way as an Italian-themed wine bar. Together with Dal Zotto wines, the duo will be transforming the QT Hotels’ rooftop kitchen gardens into a trattoria and vineyard themed paradise—with a Bocce field to boot.
Complete with a fresh new paint job courtesy of local artist Rowena Martinich, the space is swinging for a real summery ‘La Dolce Vita’ vibe; paired with a strong Italian garden and terrazzo it's got a real prohibition 1920’s speakeasy feel. The secret bar only fits up to 40 people who will experience the trattoria-influenced spread of wines ala Dal Zotto, beers from Bridge Road Brewing Beechworth, as well as gin and limoncello from Bass & Flinders, and even Salumi from The Meat Room.
Lee Davey the QT Melbourne General Manager shared his excitement on keeping the focus of the creation local and Victorian; “We took our time to find local suppliers that were inspiring and we believed in, to create a truly unique activation showcasing the very best of regional Victoria in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We’re obsessed with the new look and feel of the Secret Garden and cannot wait to see Melbourne come to life again” says Lee.
The secret garden will open every Thursday to Sunday from 2.00pm starting Thursday 28 October, keep your eyes peeled for more info here.
