Feeling like the Melbourne nightlife is looking a little samey-samey? Us too. There’s are only so many tucked away wine bars and eateries you can adventure to for date night (we jest, but you know). If you're in the mood for something a little different and up for a performance that is sure to pique your attention, VIVA Melbourne is offering a night that you won't forget.
They’ve just released two electrifying new shows that are guaranteed to take your breath away. This daring cabaret experience, we’re talking like Crazy Horse or the Moulin Rouge in Paris, starts with the heart-stopping VOGUE, a performance that encapsulates a perfect mix of dynamic choreography and circus artistry, broken up with a few laughs and throws in some sparkles for good measure.
Then, up late at the 10.30pm performance VICIOUS, is an electrifying, moody act that gives entertainment a whole new meaning. This risqué (read: 18+) late-night performance set in 1920s style cabaret combines mesmerising dances and thrilling pulse-pounding acts, and let us tell you… it definitely made our pulse pound.
And the luxe doesn’t stop there. The food and drinks flow as smoothly as the dancers, with an Asian-influenced menu that is guaranteed to take your fancy. We recommend you try the omakase menu, (literally, ‘leave it to me’, in Japanese) where the snacks become free-flowing and you’re free of the responsibility of choice, except for picking that next cocktail.
Speaking of which, a cocktail is basically obligatory at this point, so are numbers two and three. What cocktail to choose will be your toughest decision of the night, and we were absolutely spoiled for choice. Every cocktail dazzled with its own signature twist—fairy floss, meringue, mist, and even fire. But our standout? Scarlett—where gin meets lemon and grapefruit in a citrus spark that lingers long after the last sip. The cocktail list is bougie and extravagant, being a reason in itself to return back to VIVA.
If you are looking for a new date night experience, or a night out with the girlies, this experience is for you. It is guaranteed to be filled with unforgettable moments and daring, bold choreography that you’ll be thinking about days later.
The run two shows VOGUE and VICIOUS with tickets available Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with the odd Wednesday show thrown in for good measure.
Tickets start at $73.80, cocktails at $26 and snacks averaging around $18 per plate. Find VIVA Melbourne at 64 Sutton Street, North Melbourne. To book and for more info, head here.
