Van, trailer and bus conversions might be among the more peculiar tiny home stays, but the Yarra Valley Tram Stay may just claim the title of the most unique stay in Victoria.
Situated within the scenic surroundings of the two-acre historic property, the 1935 W-Class Old Melbourne Tram, named Doris, finds its home in the idyllic Yarra Valley.
The 86-year-old tram, characterised by its yellow and green coating, has been restored and is now a permanent fixture on its rails. The previous layout has been transformed to make way for two bygone-style bedrooms adorned with luxury carpet and furnishings, one of which backs onto the driver’s cab.
While Doris has entered into a new era, the tram retains elements of its original form. The centre of the tram, now the living area, features original brown vintage seating and overhead hand railing.
The tram doors open onto a large decking space, complete with a dining area and a pergola with a fire pit—perfect for a night of stargazing while toasting some marshmallows.
The host Kerry has thought out every detail from the boardgames, a swing for the kids and a fridge replete with plenty of snacks, it’s no wonder she’s a super host with a deserving 4.97-star rating on Airbnb.
