Has the weather got you feeling a little uninspired in the kitchen? Have you eaten brinner for the last four nights in a row? Are you a little accident prone when it comes to using a knife? We hear you and present you with six of Perth’s best cooking schools!
So step away from that sad frozen dinner because these guys are here to teach you everything from holding a knife properly to piping the perfect macaron!
Matters Of Taste
Possibly Perth’s most well-known cooking school, Matters of Taste in Mount Pleasant will have you levelling up in the kitchen in no time at all. With more than 30 years’ experience in the culinary world, owner Tracey Cotterell and her protégés can teach you everything there is to know about cooking, from the basics to the more challenging. We highly recommend taking the Exceedingly Good Pies and Tarts class, the shortcrust pastry you’ll learn to make is delicious and surprisingly quite easy to pull together once you learn the basics. If being healthy is your bag, why not enrol for Matters of Taste’s Food IQ Wellbeing Series—a four week course where you’ll learn all about diet and nutrition (as well as eat delicious food!) You'll find some of the best cooking classes in Perth right here.
Elementi Cooking School
Run by the exceedingly passionate Italian born Simona, Elementi Cooking School’s range of hands-on classes are perfect for people who are happy to get their hands dirty. You’ll get your own work station, cooktop and kitchen appliances—so if you don’t like sharing (or are a clean freak who doesn’t trust that other’s wash their hands properly) these classes will be your jam. Simona offers up classes in plenty of cuisines, including Italian, Spanish and Thai!

Taste Budds Cooking Studio in Highgate are all about great food, good times and full tummies—which is exactly what you’ll get when you attend one of their cooking classes. People of Perth, we recommend the pasta and gnocchi workshop!
The Bombay Cook Club
Does your Indian home cooking usually involve a jar plucked from the shelves of your local supermarket? Thought so! Well, The Bombay Cook Club run by Spice Mama will have you reaching for the spices instead of stir-through sauces. The Supper Club is a great class to bring friends along to, you’ll learn the basics of Indian cookery and all about which spices to use for what, culminating in an Indian feast of epic proportions.
The Raw Kitchen
Considering switching to a raw diet? The Raw Kitchen’s workshops could be for you. At the moment they're offering up a raw desserts workshop which sounds too delicious to be healthy—you’ll get to take your nutritional know-how to the next level while tasting all of the raw goodies! Each participant in the workshop will get to take home a recipe booklet, as well as their raw goodies.
