By now you should be familiar with the unmatched elegance of COMO The Treasury (if not do yourself a favour and check it out here). Set within Perth’s most lovingly-restored heritage buildings and surrounded by some of the most boujee bars and eateries around town, the award-winning COMO The Treasury is the definition of contemporary luxury and honestly, we reckon everyone needs to visit at least once.
So when we heard they were launching a brand new afternoon tea experience set within a beautiful new space, we understandably got very excited.
Introducing the Cape Arid Rooms, Perth’s most luxurious new afternoon tea destination at COMO The Treasury. Featuring three beautiful interconnected rooms, each lovingly decorated to reflect the deep southern Cape Arid National Park, the space provides the perfect tranquil escape for what promises to be a seriously elevated afternoon tea experience.
Drawing inspiration from the world’s best afternoon teas, it took two years of research to refine the Cape Arid Rooms concept, so rest assured every little detail is bound to impress. From the stunning works from renowned West Australian artists Philippa and Alex Nikulinsky that adorn the walls to the thoughtfully crafted three-tiered afternoon tea stand made with three iconic local timbers; they’ve truly thought of everything.
But for us, these extra touches are just the icing on the cake; the afternoon tea is incredible in its own right. Developed by Executive Chef Kim Brennan and his culinary team, the current menu features a selection of delicate savoury nibbles and sweet sensations that showcase the very best in local produce. Think smoked chicken sandwiches with toasted walnuts and a light curry mayonnaise; rye tartlets with chestnut, mushroom duxelle, ricotta, and candied pine nuts; ‘Jarrah’ honey cheesecake tarts with spiced apple compote; and lime and mint delice with citrus curd, mint sponge and eucalyptus—just to name a few.
Alongside this, you can choose from plenty of top-tier refreshments. They’ve collaborated with Teassential to develop the tea program, with the Cape Arid Rooms team receiving training from the tea master of Teassential, David Liem, himself. And if you’d prefer to make your afternoon a little boozy (no judgement), you can opt for paired Champagne or Australian sparkling, which has been carefully curated by State Buildings Director of Wine, Emma Farrelly.
We should also point out that this offering is only the first edition (named Hill Springs); there are twelve different editions of the Cape Arid Rooms afternoon tea to be revealed over three years—each inspired by a different region and offering a fresh seasonal take. So I guess this means you’ll just have to come back to try each one.
If you’re looking to step that experience up, check out the Discover COMO The Treasury package. It includes two nights’ accommodation, breakfast at Post, your choice of either afternoon tea with a glass of sparkling wine or a three course lunch at rooftop restaurant Wildflower, dinner at Post and an oh-so-relaxing COMO Shambhala Signature Massage for two guests to top it all off.
The decadent Hill Springs Edition starts at $75 per person and is now available at the new Cape Arid Rooms in the State Buildings. Book your dreamy afternoon tea experience here.
And if you love indulgant dining, you need to check out this unbeatable Margaret River degustation for under $100.
