Perth Comedy Lounge

Winter blues getting your down? Perhaps you’re in need of a good old fashioned belly laugh. Those laugh-out-loud, split-your-sides, uncontrollable kind of giggles that have you forgetting all your troubles.

Well consider your funny bone tickled—we’ve rounded up the very best comedy lounges and comedy nights in Perth that will have you in stitches. Bookmark this list for next time you’re feeling worse for wear. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

Comedy Lounge

Perth’s only purpose-built comedy club, the Comedy Lounge, hosts the creme de la creme of Australian comedy talent and big-name international performers under one state-of-the-art roof. Regular segments include the Gong Show each Thursday (the outrageous weekly comedy competition where 15 performers go head to head performing for three minutes each unless ‘gonged’ off stage sooner), Funniest 5 on Fridays (hand-picked local and legendary comedians providing five minutes of non-stop laughs each) and Sunday Singles (a hilarious comedy game show for singles only).

Where: Upstairs, 413 Murray St, Perth
When: Thursday to Sunday

Fremantle Comedy Factory

For the cheapest chuckle in town, head to the Fremantle Comedy Factory at the Federal. Tickets are just $10, and you’ll see ten comics from around Australia taking turns to tear it up on stage with a mix of established performers with the likes of David Hughs and on-the-rise comedians.

Where: Upstairs, The Federal Hotel, 23 William St, Fremantle
When: Every Thursday from 7.45pm

The Leederville Comedy Club

Enjoy your cocktails with a side of comedy? Every Thursday, the Red Room at the Leederville Hotel is slinging signature cocktails aptly named after your favourite comedians while the funny bunch from Perth’s experimental comedy club Grassroots Comedy keep you laughing. Sip on a Gin Jefferies, Shandy Samberg, or Steve Martini as Grassroots’ rotating lineup of top-tier comedians take the stage.

Where: Upstairs at the Red Room, 742 Newcastle St, Leederville
When: Every Thursday from 7pm

The Experimental Comedy Club @ Convenients

Another regular comedy night by the Grassroots crew, the Experimental Comedy Club is full of surprises right from the get-go. Open the fridge door to discover a secret bar where both experienced and emerging comedians come to try out new material. Over a dozen comedians will take the stage on any given Tuesday to hone their craft in a trial by fire. Expect big laughs, never-before-seen jokes and, occasionally, a few bombs.

Where: 35 Lake St Northbridge WA 6003
When: Every Tuesday from 7pm

Oasis Comedy Club

You don’t need to go to the states to get New York style stand-up comedy. Each Friday and Saturday, Australia’s homegrown comedy kings and queens bring the laughs to the Brisbane Hotel. There’s regular appearances from Perth local Rove and ‘Australia’s hottest comedian’ Eloise Eftos, plus regular drop ins from international stars such as Stephen K. Amos. Tickets are around the $30 mark—a bargain price to see some big names.

Where: Upstairs, The Brisbane Hotel, 292 Beaufort St Perth
When: Every Friday and Saturday from 8pm

The Rechabite

From the team behind Fringe World Festival is The Rechabite, a multi-level mega-venue delivering year-round laughs. Some of the world’s best comedians perform within the walls of this four-in-one space, with regular shows upstairs in the Rechabite Hall and downstairs at the Goodwill basement club promising subterranean cackles.

Where: 224 William St, Northbridge
When: Check upcoming events

The Laugh Resort

The Laugh Resort has had Perth’s ribs tickling since 1991. A not-for-profit comedy club, it has been the starting point for some of Australia's best comedians, with Jim Jefferies, Tim Michin, Claire Hooper and more spotted on the stage throughout the last two decades. Tickets start at $18 for front row seats to local, national and touring talent with all profits going to the performers.

Where: Upstairs, The Shoe Bar & Cafe, Yagan Square, Perth
When: Every Wednesday from 7.30pm
