Looking for your next beachy getaway? This coastal cool chalet village in Esperance could be just the ticket.

Located just a five minute stroll from the crystal clear waters of Esperance Bay, the charming village is made up of a series of stand alone a-frame chalets and larger shacks all surrounded by large trees and lush native gardens. If you can’t be bothered to walk down to the beach, Bandy Creek also flanks the property so you can fish, kayak, or just crack a few cold ones by the water whenever you feel the urge.

Each chalet is beautifully styled to suit your surroundings—think crisp white linen bedding, timber cladding, a good splash of white paint, and coastal chic decor—and are equipped with either reverse cycle air conditioning or ceiling fans and portable heaters to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. Don’t worry, there’s also wifi available so you can Netflix your evening away if you feel the need. Larger chalets also come with their own BBQ area which is great for evening cook ups if you’re with a bigger group of friends.

When you arrive you’ll notice there’s no reception, they’ve opted for a simple self check-in instead which means you’ll get a text message on the day directing you how to get into your chalet. The owners live on the property though, so they’re always around if you need something.

Once you’ve settled in, we suggest you borrow one of their complimentary village bikes and head into town to grab a coffee and some supplies, then cruise on down to the beach for the rest of the day—Esperance’s beaches are some of the world’s best and you may even score yourself a sought after beach selfie with the local kangaroos.

If you’re looking to venture a little further from the village, there is plenty to do. Book a helicopter ride, plane flight or boat cruise to Middle Island and take in the spectacular pink waters of Lake Hillier; spend a day exploring the 100+ islands that make up the Bay of Isles; or stop by Lucky Bay Brewing to suss out the local craft beer over lunch. If you can’t decide, just jump in the car and explore The Great Ocean Drive, a popular tourist loop that stretches 38kms and passes by scenic highlights like the Rotary Lookout, West Beach, Blue Haven, Twilight Beach and Ten Mile Lagoon.

When you are finally ready to head back to the village, you can refresh with a spa-worthy experience thanks to bathroom goodies from Appelles Apothecary & Lab featuring essential oils with native botanical extracts like rosemary, blue mallee eucalyptus, lemon myrtle and mandarin.

Once that sun starts to set, pour yourself a drink and get set to take in the stars before hunkering down in your chalet for the evening. The distant sound of waves crashing on the beach will sing you to sleep as you sink into the plush and comfy chalet beds (we’re not camping, here).

Chalets start at $220 per night and sleep two, and their two bedroom shacks start at $280 per night and sleep four. Whichever room you choose, though, you’ll feel right at home in this cute little beach village so we suggest you start planning your summer getaway before it books out.
