Get ready musical lovers, because Disney's Frozen The Broadway Musical is finally coming to Perth this August and whether the cold bothers you or not, you're gonna want to grab tickets now.

After getting the chance to see this one first-hand last week, I can promise you that whether you're six or 36, a musical fan or a complete theatre virgin, the hit production of Disney's famous flick is bound to be a truly magical experience—there’s a reason it was the highest grossing new musical of its season in its first year on Broadway...it's nothing short of amazing.

I'm assuming you know the movie, which means you'll already know that this is first and foremost a story that celebrates sisterhood, with a little romance and comedy thrown in to keep everyone smiling from start to finish. And yes, all your fave characters are here too—sisters Elsa and Anna; the not-so-perfect match, Hans; Kristoff and his friendly reindeer, Sven; and of course the film's most lovable snowman, Olaf.

You'll also be familiar with the hit songs, but keep those ears peeled as 12 new numbers have been added, written especially for the stage by Oscar winning husband and wife duo Kristen Anderson Lopez and Bobby Lopez (Book of Morman, Avenue Q)—the same pair who wrote the original songs for the movie.

If you're still thinking this is a kids' show, let me set you straight as it's actually more like Wicked or Phantom Of The Opera—you know, two of the all-time best musicals. Created by the same producers that brought us Aladdin, The Lion King and Mary Poppins, the production has been designed for adults and older children (so leave the screaming little ones at home please)—with the same epic set design and the same 440 costumes you'll find in the Broadway production.

All I can say is, definitely do not go for a toilet break before you see the showstopping dress change moment in Let It Go. I can't stop replaying it in my head. It's pure magic and I get chills just thinking about it. We shouldn't be too surprised considering Jemma Rix—who is best known for her role as Elphaba in Wicked—is the one slaying the performance.

Ready to plan your trip to Arendelle? Of course you are!

Disney's Frozen The Broadway Musical lands at Crown Theatre this August. Pick up tickets here and then start working your way through the Broadway cast recording album to familiarise yourself with the new songs.

Not enough? Check out more of what's on in Perth.
