The intrastate borders are a thing of the past so while you're planning your next local escape, you might want to consider Kalbarri and the brand new Kalbarri Skywalk which opens this Friday 12 June.

The two 100m high walkways jut out from one of the highest points of the Murchison River Gorge rim in the Kalbarri National Park and will offer some seriously jaw-dropping views of the park. If all you know about Kalbarri is the Insta-famous Nature's Window site, it's opposite that and both of them are well worth your time.

Later this year, an environmentally friendly kiosk will be dishing up drinks and snacks next to the Skywalk, but for now, you'll need to take your own food and water in (and remember to take your rubbish out with you).

While the coastal sites of the Kalbarri National Park are free to visit, the inland gorge sites—which is where you'll find the Skywalk—is open from 6am to 6pm each day and it costs $15 per vehicle to enter.
