Perth’s dining scene is about to get a serious shake-up, with one of the world’s most celebrated chefs, Pichaya Soontornyanakij, also known as Chef Pam, set to open her first Australian restaurant at Crown Perth in 2027.

Chef Pam will bring her acclaimed take on contemporary Thai cuisine to Crown Perth with Khao Sen Sek, a new restaurant inspired by her Bangkok venue of the same name. She will also bring her experience as the World’s Best Female Chef in 2025, Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2024, and her Michelin-starred restaurant POTONG, which has earned a spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

Khao Sen Sek will reimagine Thai cuisine through five traditional ingredients, including rice, chilli, coconut, fish sauce and palm sugar. The menu will focus on these fundamental building blocks of flavour, while showcasing local and premium Australian produce, including Blue Swimmer Crab, Fremantle Octopus and Rock Lobster. The experience is set to be as vibrant as the food, with bold flavours, high-energy hospitality and plenty of personality. Across Chef Pam’s new Australian restaurants at both Crown Perth and Crown Sydney, diners can expect elevated, yet approachable dishes designed for sharing, with moments of theatre woven throughout each meal.

The Perth opening will also mark a meaningful milestone for Chef Pam, who shares a personal connection with Australia through her grandmother, who was born and raised in New South Wales. Her arrival follows Crown’s recent announcement that Swedish powerhouse Björn Frantzén will also open Brasserie Astoria at Crown Towers in 2027, making next year a major one for Perth’s fine-dining scene.

The opening of Khao Sen Sek at Crown Perth in 2027 will give Perth locals the chance to experience Chef Pam’s modern take on Thai cuisine without having to leave the country.
