Do you consider yourself to be a bit of a vino pro? You know, the type that swirls and smells their wine and has a classy glass-holding style? Or maybe you’re more of an amateur who hasn’t yet delved into the world of different tasting grapes.
While there’s nothing wrong with the latter (we all have to start somewhere), North Bird’s interactive new Wine In The Dark event lends itself more to the budding sommeliers, who will sip and guess their way through four mystery white wines in hopes of scoring a prestigious bottle to take home. Taking place on Wednesday 28 April as part of Good Food Month, it’s the perfect way to spend your hump day evening.
The wine masters at North Bird have selected wines with dine in prices of $40, $75, $115 and $150 per bottle, and it’s up to you to sip and match the wines to their correct price points. Guess all four of them correctly and you’ve won yourself a wonderful bottle of wine!
Whether you’re a wine-guessing pro or you’re just here for a good time, rest assured you’ll be feasting on four gourmet courses throughout the night. Start with freshly shucked market oysters with lemon myrtle before topping North Bird’s house baked sourdough with La Delizia Latticini burrata, Australian native infused oil and freshly churned butter. Then tuck into market fish with buttermilk caper dressing and a side of local tomato salad, and finish on a sweet note with a serve of creme brulee.
Once the guessing is all over and your plates are cleared, North Bird’s sommelier will give a short presentation that explores each of the four wine varieties and explains why they were chosen. There you go wine amateurs—you might’ve missed out on taking a bottle home, but you’ll be guaranteed to be leaving with more vino knowledge than you came with!
