If you’re not aboard the bánh mì train yet… where’ve you been? This marvellous creation is what happens when zingy Vietnamese street food falls in love with delicious French baked goods. At first glance, it might look like a simple baguette, but take a bite and everything changes. You get the crackly crust, the soft and fluffy inside, plus a riot of fillings: savoury meats, silky pâté, tangy pickled carrots and daikon, fresh cucumber, herbs and a kick of chilli (if you can handle the heat, of course).

So, forget your sad packed lunch tomorrow and go try one of Perth’s best bánh mì instead.

Le Vietnam

Le Vietnam specialises in the traditional and the not so traditional (guacamole in your bánh mì anyone?) but we don’t really care about tradition when it tastes this good. Plus, good news for vegans, they’ve also got a killer range of veggie rolls and a plant-based faux meat range that is seriously tasty. A special mention goes out to their crispy pork belly, which we can’t get enough of.

North 54

At North 54, the humble bánh mì gets a bold, modern makeover. Chef Bac Pham reimagines the classic Vietnamese roll with creative fillings and big flavours. Think roast pork marinated in fermented red bean, hibachi-grilled chicken, or gooey ‘son-in-law’ eggs with tamarind mayo and crispy shallots. Packed into light, crusty bread and layered with herbs, pickles and punchy sauces, these bánh mì deliver the perfect mix of crunch, freshness and flavour in every bite.

Baguette Me Not

Perth and Karrinyup

We were a bit disappointed when Baguette Me Not closed in Subi, but breathed a sigh of relief when we heard they’d set up shop in Karrinyup Shopping Centre. Try their whopping bánh mì baguette called Four Seasons: at 60cm long, you can fill this bad boy up with four different fillings. Jess recommends the mushroom bánh mì, with grilled mushies and red onion, but there are heaps of other fillings to choose from, including the Pow Wow with slow-cooked pulled pork, and the Like A Sunrise with bacon and eggs. Yum.

Little Baguette Co.

Wembley

Little Baguette Co’s bánh mì are all about freshness, balance, and that perfect crunchy first bite. Each roll starts with a crisp baguette layered with chicken liver pâté and creamy mayo, then packed with classic fillings like Vietnamese ham, pork, or lemongrass chicken. Finished with pickled carrot and daikon, cucumber, coriander, and a hit of chilli, the result is a vibrant, flavour-packed sandwich that delivers the perfect mix of savoury, tangy, and fresh in every bite.

Sunshine Lunch Bar Cafe

Mount Lawley

At Sunshine Lunch Bar Cafe, the bánh mì are simple, classic, and seriously satisfying. Fresh baguettes are generously filled with traditional Vietnamese ingredients—think roast pork with crunchy crackling, pickled carrot, herbs, and just the right balance of sauces. Unpretentious and packed with flavour, these rolls are a local favourite for good reason: fresh, hearty, and the kind of lunch that keeps regulars coming back again and again.

Bánh Mì Vũng Tàu is the real deal: no fuss, just seriously good Vietnamese rolls done right. Crisp, airy baguettes are loaded with generous layers of house-made pâté, Vietnamese cold cuts, and roasted pork, then finished with crunchy pickled carrot and daikon, cucumber, coriander, and chilli. The result is a perfectly balanced bánh mì: rich, fresh, tangy, and irresistibly crunchy, with every bite delivering that classic street-food magic.

Headed up by former Masterchef contestant Jenny Lam, this cool bánh mì hotspot in Leedy gets a little crazy come lunchtime for good reason – their fresh Vietnamese rolls pack a punch. Choose from the pork belly, grilled pork, chicken, vegetarian or signature bánh mì, all with butter mayo and homemade pâté. Sarah says “the rolls are always warm and the filling is amazing,” and Maggie recommends getting a side of the lace spring rolls to top it off.
