banh mi in Perth

If you’re not aboard the banh mi train yet I guess you can be forgiven. The mind-blowing baguettes do not get enough love in our opinion. The perfect combo of crunchy French baguette and delicious coriander-y Vietnamese goodness, we think banh mi is the ultimate lunchtime treat.

Forget your sad packed lunch tomorrow and go try one of Perth’s best banh mis instead.

Le Vietnam

Perth

Le Vietnam specialises in the traditional and the not so traditional (guacamole in your banh mi anyone?) but we don’t really care about tradition when it tastes this good. Plus, good news for vegans, they’ve also got a killer range of veggie rolls and a new plant-based faux meat range that is seriously tasty. A special mention goes out to their crispy pork belly, which you guys can’t get enough of.

Baguette Me Not

Perth And Karrinyup

We were a bit disappointed when Baguette Me Not shut up shop in Subiaco, but breathed a sigh of relief when we discovered they were also setting up in the new Karrinyup Shopping Centre. Try the whopping banh mi baguette called Four Seasons—at 60cm long, you can fill this bad boy up with four different fillings. Jess recommends the mushroom banh mi, with grilled mushies and red onion, but there are heaps of other fillings to choose from, including the Pow Wow with slow-cooked pulled pork, and the Like A Sunrise with bacon and eggs.

Bibra Lake Lunch Bar

Bibra Lake

For south of the river banh mi, Bibra Lake Lunch Bar cannot be beaten. It gets consistently high reviews and one look at their epic rolls will tell you why. Authentic and packed to the brim with all the good stuff. Rebecca loves that your roll is made fresh from scratch every time, and Ashlee recommends the vegan pork belly option, complete with vegan pate and mayo.

Bunn Mee

Leederville

Headed up by a former Masterchef contestant Jenny Lam, this cool banh mi hotspot in Leedy gets a little crazy come lunchtime for good reason—their fresh Vietnamese rolls pack a punch. Choose from the pork belly, grilled pork, chicken, vegetarian or signature banh mi, all with butter mayo and homemade pate. Sarah says “the rolls are always warm and the filling is amazing” and Maggie recommends getting a side of the lace spring rolls to top it off.

Bite My Banh Mi

Morley

A Morley gem, Bite My Banh Mi is just across the road from Coventry Village. We can’t get enough of these affordable and authentic banh mi rolls, especially when washed down with fresh sugarcane juice. Chloe loves their heavenly rolls baked fresh in-store daily, while Sian says you can’t go past the crispy pork belly.

Bun Mi

Subiaco

This cute spot in Subi attracts loads of local lunch-goers so don’t be surprised if you have to line up. Warm baked rolls, fresh fillings and a load of other menu items to get excited for (pork belly boa and taro iced tea, come at us)—it’s easy to see why Bun Mi is an instant hit.  Lots of you said Bun Mi was your favourite based on their bread, and when we look at that homemade crusty rolls, we can see why.

Locavora (previously Lunchbox)

West Perth

A few of you might remember the popular banh mi spot Lunchbox, but they’ve recently relaunched in West Perth as Locavora. They still do an epic banh mi roll, a popular one being their breakfast banh mi, with bacon, egg, pate, mayo, pickled carrot, soy sauce, cucumber and chilli. Pair this with their Vietnamese iced coffee for the ultimate brekky.

MCQ Vietnamese Rolls

Mirrabooka

MCQ Vietnamese Rolls boasting super reasonable prices and most importantly damn tasty authentic banh mi complete with crunchy rolls and next-level pork pate, you really can’t go wrong. Madi rates them for being “fresh, cheap and so delicious", and having 10/10 service.

Munch Box Lunch Bar

Balcatta

Munch Box had plenty of votes, with you guys saying it was fresh and tasty, with a variety of fillings to choose from. Liz is a fan of their breakfast banh mi, which comes with egg and grilled minced pork with soy sauce and chilli. Their traditional banh mis are served on crusty baguettes with pickles, fresh salad, chilli and of course, yummy mayo and pate. Choose one of their many fillings, which range from crispy chicken to cold cuts, roast pork and shredded tofu.  Munch Box can also make most of their rolls gluten-free if that’s your jam.

Roll Vs Bowl

Morley

Surprise, surprise, another killer food joint that’s located within Coventry Village. Honestly, there must be something in the water at this cheap and cheerful Morley food mecca because we reckon it’s home to some of the most underrated eats in Perth. And in the Vietnamese roll department, Roll Vs Bowl takes the cake. Joey loves their fresh ingredients paired with roast pork. Chef’s kiss.
