Being vegan can often make going out for breakfast a little tricky, given it’s a time of day that typically lends itself to eggs and bacon, and one where hunting down something plant-based isn’t exactly the easiest of tasks. Which kind of sucks, because breakfast is the best.
The good news is, as the popularity of veganism continues to grow, more and more Perth cafes are coming to the party and serving up some very tasty vegan breakfast options.
Here’s where to find the best vegan breakfasts around Perth.
Veggie Mama
Mount Lawley
This veggie-lovers' haven is chock-a-block with delicious vegan eats. During the week you can swing by for one of their hot meals, veggie burgers and salads or pick up a ready made meal to go. But on weekends you can treat yourself to their brekkie menu. From house made granolla with fermented coyo to tofu scramble on sourdough, this place is legit. And don't worry, if you want to bring a non-vegan along they'll also be able to get some eggs.
Flora And Fauna
Perth
It’s hard to go past Flora and Fauna if you’re after vegan options; this tiny little cafe’s menu is made up entirely of vegan and vegetarian dishes. We love the Superfood Muesli for something light, or the Breakfast Burrito for something a bit more on the substantial side. They’ve also got a huge range of cold pressed juices, and of course, coffee.
Myrtle Ivy
This cosy little coffee shop dishes up the most amazing ready-made vegan eats from its front cabinet and some more elaborate vegan breakfasts from the dine-in menu, so it’s the perfect place to grab brekky to-go or to have a feast with your vegan mates. The cabinet is always stocked with guilt-free goodies like vegan cinnamon scrolls, scones, muffins, chia puddings and an incredible pulled jackfruit burrito (which works wonders for breakfast or lunch), and the dine-in menu is just as impressive. Try out their smashed avocado bagel with dukkah and micro-greens—it’s almost too pretty to eat—or opt for their paprika braised beans on Bread In Common sourdough. Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
The Little Bay
By now, you probably should have heard of The Little Bay—the beachfront sibling of Little h in Duncraig. The menu is full of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free brekkies. Our fave is the savoury Margaret River tempeh nourish bowl which is packed with cauliflower rice, avocado, edamame, zucchini and other delish veggies.
Pearth Organic Kitchen
Leederville
Focusing on local, organic produce is never a bad thing, and the team at Pearth are all over it. Their fully vegan and vegetarian menu is truly unique, featuring dishes like the Beetroot and Coconut Pancake, Bali Breakfast (complete with vegan egg), and a classic Smashed Avocado with a twist; house-made tofetta.
Little Shop Of Plenty
Maylands
If you’re looking for a menu overflowing with energy-boosting superfoods, and completely lacking in gluten, dairy and refined sugar, you’ll find it at Little Shop of Plenty. Keep it super simple with organic salted cashew butter on toast or satisfy your sweet tooth with a delicious Cocowhip parfait.
Little Raw Deli
Carlisle
Everything on the menu at Little Raw Deli is plant-based, and they like to keep things interesting with a selection of chia puddings, pancakes, porridge, toasts and raw treats that change daily. Pick and choose to create your own personalised brekky bowl, and wash it all down with a freshly made smoothie or superfood latte.
Chinta
North Perth
Sometimes bigger is better when it comes to breakfast (read: hungover), but as a vegan it can be a bit hard to fill the void. Not to worry; Chinta has you covered with their very generous Vegan Big Breakfast. Think potato hash, beans, tomato, avocado and spinach piled on seeded sourdough.
Pear’fect Pantry
Wembley
The team at Pear’fect Pantry take breakfast very seriously, and they make sure to cater for everyone with plenty of vegan options. Grab a vegan brekky wrap and coffee to go (it’s just a short stroll to Herdsman Lake), or enjoy a bite in their cute cafe garden. They’ve also got heaps of vegan cabinet treats should you hear your sweet tooth calling.
Source Foods
Highgate
In need of a filling feed? Source Foods is where you should be. We’re all about the Vegan Feast, featuring crispy falafel, house beans, carrot pesto, mushrooms; the whole damn works. They also do a mighty fine smashed avocado topped off with a sprinkle of Vegemite dust.
Nature’s Harvest
Cottesloe
Nothing beats a good brekky after a morning swim, so do yourself a favour and pay a visit to Nature’s Harvest once you’ve dried off. Their menu is a vegan paradise, with a huge range of house muesli blends, superfood bowls, pancakes and porridge. Take your pick and pair it up with a fresh juice or smoothie.
