Less than an hour’s drive from Perth, the beautiful beachside city of Mandurah is known for its stunning beaches and canals, chilled vibes and stellar eats. It’s the ideal place for a day trip or for your next weekend getaway.
Whether you want to lounge by the water or get a little bit fancy with a big night out—here’s our pick of the best restaurants in Mandurah.
Hoodburger
Is there anyone in the world that doesn’t love a good burger? Hoodburger seriously delivers the goods with its juicy American smashburgers and wild flavour combos to choose from. If you can’t go past a cheeseburger, that’s absolutely fine. But for those on the more adventurous side, go the tender mash and gravy or golden curry sandwich. Drooling yet?
The Pen
The Pen has to be one of our favourite spots in Mandurah. Literally on the shorefront, this beloved restaurant bridges the gap between casual pub dining and classic waterfront fare. Start with a cocktail as you admire the view and nibble on La Delizia burrata served with roast tomatoes, grilled eggplants and ciabatta. For mains? We can’t go past the housemade pappardelle with zucchini and basil pesto, the classic pork schnitty or the Franklin River pork belly. The best part? Head upstairs to The Sebel to rest your head before doing it all again the next day.
Brewvino
In the centre of Mandurah sits Brewvino, known for having the best steaks in town as well as a pretty epic menu that’s gonna make your meal a hard choice. If the steak is what you’re after, we reckon the steak sanga is worth a go with scotch fillet, caramelised onion, capsicum, Swiss cheese, wild rocket and a heap of delish sauces. You can also get stuck into some share plates of grass fed sirloin or rib eye, whole boneless crispy chicken or 12-hour slow cooked lamb shoulder with all the sides, sauces and trimmings.
Flics Kitchen
This beautiful waterside restaurant is a well-loved local classic. Expect seasonal modern share plates like Western rock lobster and prawn on brioche with an avocado creme, wood roasted spiced cauliflower, house made ricotta gnocchi with wild mushrooms and crab croquettes. Our advice? Order one of everything.
Wood and Stone Cafe
Boasting the best brunch in town, this award-winning cafe is your go-to for those lighter bites that still pack a punch. With a sun-soaked tipple in hand, you’re on holiday after all, the taco board and baby calamari are the menu’s must-try items. And if you wake up in the mood for something naughty, the house made pancake stack lathered in Biscoff will transcend you into what can be best described as a sweet-tooth’s heaven.
Bob Jo
This hustling foreshore Korean restaurant has to be one of Mandurah’s worst kept secrets. Succulent, crispy fried chicken, Korean korn dogs, seafood pancakes and bibimbap—everything is ridiculously tasty.
Maneki Sushi
We weren’t lying when we said Mandurah had the goods. The reviews of Maneki are outstanding and it’s not hard to see why. The fresh plates of sashimi, skewers and loaded sushi will blow you away. When you’re ready for mains, get stuck into the cutest mini seafood hotpot or a big bowl of ramen noodles.
Jasmine Thai
There’s a reason locals continue to flock to Jasmine Thai. It's all run by a real deal Thai family, so you know they're doing things the traditional way here. You can order all the usual faves like green curries, pad thai noodles and sizzling meats. Our top tip? Save room for dessert because the fried ice cream served with fried caramelised banana splits is a banger.
Boston Burgers
The good folks at Boston have gone ahead and given us another reason to add burgers to the weekly menu. The buttermilk fried chicken is off the charts and the smashed beef burgers are beyond tasty—just be ready for one epic feed. There’s a cute-as fireplace and it’s casual enough where you won’t be judged for popping open the top button of your jeans. Don't say we didn’t warn you.
Sharky’s
We surely couldn’t miss a good ol’ fish and chips off the list and we’re so here for the views and food from Sharky’s. Feel free to go for your usual round of fish, chips and tartare sauce or spice it up with Cone Bay barramundi served with creamy mashed potatoes and buttered vegetables.
Saigon Silver Sands
Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior of this Vietnamese restaurant—it’s loved by every visitor and you’ll soon see why. The fresh wok stir fries with your choice of meat will have you feeling all sorts of good, as will the fresh or fried classic spring rolls, giant bowls of pho and crispy Vietnamese pancake.
Murphy’s Irish Pub
Murphy’s delivers a classic Irish pub experience with good food to back it up. We recommend getting stuck into the house-made beef and Guinness pie with chunky steak, carrot and potato, served on potato mash and topped with a red wine jus. The drunken Irish ribs and Kilkenny ale battered fish and chips are also winners, though.
Indian Curry Planet
The rich and flavoursome dishes served up by Indian Curry Planet are all you could ask for when it comes to comfort food. Korma, vindaloo, Madras—all your usuals are there. There’s also a heap on offer for the vegos in your life.
