My House Dumpling

I’ve been smashing dumplings at My House Dumpling for *years* ever since I lived down the road, and yet, naively never realised the iconic back story of the delighfully warm and welcoming owner Judy Wu; a strong, determined female migrant who went from successful CEO in China to starting again from scratch without a single word of English in a completely unknown land.
Restaurants

Bert’s

If you grew up near City Beach, chances are you’ve heard of the original Bert’s—the iconic surf kiosk that was a local hangout from the ’50s to the early ’60s. Now, it's making a comeback, and ready to serve a whole new generation of sandy-footed surfers and locla grommets as it takes over the old Odyssea spot in late August.

Bars & Pubs

Casa

From morning pastries to midnight pours, Casa is the kind of venue you’ll want to linger at. Inspired by the all-day bars of Italy, Casa is a true all-rounder, equal parts café, diner, wine bar, and killer pizzeria. By day, they’ve got coffee brewing, flaky house-baked pastries, sausage rolls, and stuffed focaccias to get you through the day. But after dark it’s all pasta, share plates, and one extensive wine list. With nine perfectly-tempered fridges, it’s an oenophile's dream. And while Casa does a lot right, the pizza here is unmissable. Their deep-pan beauties arrive crispy, cheesy, and generously topped, making them a serious contender for Perth’s best.

Here’s Where To Find The Absolute Best Tiramisu In Perth

Italy’s best-loved dessert, Tiramisu (literally meaning ‘pick me up’) was named for its energising layers of marsala-soaked sponge, creamy mascarpone and coffee – interesting, since we’d argue most of us know it today as the last nail in the food-coma coffin brought on by an Italian feast. Still, this is a dessert so prolific that when the north-eastern region of Italy long considered to be the origin of tiramisu—Veneto—was challenged for the title, the region’s governor vehemently defended it, saying: ‘No one can swindle us out of tiramisu.’

Perth’s first permanent floating event space, The Raft is brought to us by brother and sister team, Katie and Dan Chrystal, who wanted to bring something seriously different to Perth.

Angel’s House

Angel’s House is a pretty little slice of France taking up residence in a heritage-listed 1880s-built home in Fremantle. The bistro is run by two French brothers, Anthony and Jeremy, who are passionate about sourcing locally grown produce to complement their seasonal menu full of tasteful discoveries.

Charcoal And Chai

Charcoal And Chai in Como caught our attention for all the right reasons. The menu features the most drool-worthy charcoal-grilled Persian street food dishes with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians (hello smoky marinated eggplant with lemon tahini and vegan feta), but wait, there’s more.

The Rechabite

Rechabite Hall, one of the founding buildings along the William Street strip in Northbridge, was once a vibrant dance hall. It then sat dormant, gathering dust, until Marcus Canning, the founder of Fringe World, Rooftop Movies and The Bakery, got it back into tip-top shape in 2019. It's now home to four separate venues and we couldn't pick a favourite if we tried.

Coogee Common

Housed in the Old Coogee Hotel, Coogee Common is brought to us from the team behind Bread in Common. The 120 year old building has been carefully restored with a helping hand from property developer Adrian Fini and the result is phenomenal.

Hearth

Hearth is the jaw-dropping restaurant that’s attached to The Ritz-Carlton Perth at Elizabeth Quay, but it couldn’t be further from what you’d traditionally think of as a hotel restaurant. At first sight, Hearth is quite simply breathtaking. While you might imagine deep, dark colours in a place that’s named after a fireplace, the fit out is light, bright and uber-relaxing thanks to the cool blues and views of our beautiful Swan River. If it’s a fine day, you might want to get a table outside and do some people watching but come dinner time, try and snag a booth inside for ultimate comfort.

Perth’s Best Tapas Restaurants To Share A Feed At

Raise your hand if you’re an indecisive over-orderer with eyes bigger than your stomach! It’s okay, us too. When met with so many mouth-watering food options, it’s way too hard to narrow down your selection and face potential feelings of regret when you see something you *almost* ordered making its way to the table next to you.
