The Best High Teas In Perth

Written by:
Rebecca Keating
Perth's best high tea

High tea might just be the fanciest way to spend an afternoon—and Perth/Boorloo has plenty of lush spots to prove it.

Here at Urban List, we think there’s something undeniably special about slowing down over towers of finger sandwiches, flaky pastries and bite-sized sweets, all while sipping something bubbly (or beautifully brewed).

So if classic hotel indulgence or vibey twists with bottomless fizz is what you’re after, these are Perth’s best high teas worth dressing up for. Pinkies up.

Cape Arid Rooms

If you’re after a high tea that feels like an occasion, this is it. As self-confessed pastry obsessives, my long-time colleagues turned friends (Kate and Sarah,) and I have made it a tradition to celebrate our birthdays with a boujee afternoon tea—and Cape Arid Rooms still holds the top spot. Set within the stunning surrounds of COMO The Treasury, this refined experience is all about local flavour, both in the produce and the inspiration behind it.

Each season brings a new theme, honouring WA’s coastline and landscapes through delicately crafted bites and a stunning array of sweets. Due to its seasonal nature, expect the menu to change a few times a year. Whilst I haven’t (yet) made it back, I can still remember obsessing over the Shark Bay seafood, Wagin duck and the Bahen & Co chocolate dessert—ridiculously good options for a high tea, right? I’m drooling as I write this, and making a mental note to get this booked in stat.

Everything is plated with finesse and served alongside truly unlimited tea and coffee, with blends exclusively crafted in collaboration with local legends, Teassential. It’s all paired with the kind of five-star service and ambience you’d expect from COMO—elegant, thoughtful and unhurried.

Yes, it’s a little fancy. But it’s absolutely worth it. It feels just like a special high tea should.

Kefi and Cake

147 Scarborough Beach Rd, Mount Hawthorn WA 6016

Familiar with Bites By D? Then you’re already well acquainted with Kefi and Cake. This Mount Hawthorn dessert boutique had a major glow-up earlier this year, re-emerging with a new name, a bubblegum-pink façade, and the same exquisite sweets you know and love.

Inside, it’s a pastel dream—trailing florals, cushy banquettes and the scent of freshly baked treats drifting from the kitchen. Their two-course high tea is a leisurely, soul-warming affair, pairing savoury bites like mac and cheese croquettes and salmon tartlets with delicate petit fours, pillowy scones, and other house-made confections.

The attention to detail here is unmatched, with everything crafted from authentic, time-tested recipes by pastry chef and owner Zoe Mallis. Come hungry, and don’t leave without a slice of their baklava Basque cheesecake for later.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Sip on loose-leaf tea, coffee, juice or even a milkshake, OR BYO bubbles—corkage is a steal at just $2 a head
  • Plant-based, gluten-free, halal? No worries. The team can tailor your high tea to suit whatever your crew needs (and they do it deliciously)

Haven Lounge at The Westin

480 Hay Street Perth, Western Australia 6000

Image credit: The Westin | Website

The ever-evolving high tea menu at Haven Lounge within The Westin is crafted around seasonal themes, meaning there’s always something fresh and fabulous to devour. One month you might be sipping bubbles alongside cherry blossom-inspired treats, the next it’s all about bold winter flavours or sun-drenched summer fruits.

Each spread is a work of art, carefully curated by Pastry Chef Sarah Rix and Executive Chef Kevin Garcia, who clearly know their way around a tiered stand. Expect intricate savouries, picture-perfect pastries and sweets that are (almost) too pretty to eat. Add free-flowing tea or upgrade to a glass of bubbles and settle in for an afternoon of pure indulgence.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • High tea is served Fridays to Sundays at 11am and 2.30pm
  • Pricing starts at $79; bubbles upgrades from $89 (Chandon) to $99 (Moët).

La Vie Champagne Lounge

Great Eastern Hwy, Burswood WA 6100

High Cheese at La Vie in Burswood

Ditch the classic high tea and trade it in for this decadent four-tiered high cheese tower at the tres chic La Vie Champagne Lounge inside Crown Perth. I can attest to this being one of the best ways to dine through an afternoon and if you can finish everything dished up by the talented team, you’ll be one heck of a legend. I just about had to roll myself out and was seriously glad it was part of a staycation as a robe and movie in bed were soon calling my name.

You'll work your way through tiny sweet and savoury fromage-filled bites like baked camembert, brie layered with fine herbs, prosciutto and cream tartlets and cannoli paired with fine cured meats, olives, pickles and spreads—the menu changes on the reg but it’s always good. For sweets, it might be a Basque cheesecake or passionfruit crème brûlée. All equally delicious options.

There's multiple drink options available but If it were me, I'd be upping the ante with the champagne tasting flight, with four different types of the good stuff.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Available Thursday to Sunday, 3pm to 5pm, perfect for a luxe, late afternoon session that rolls into the evening
  • Pricing runs from $50 for simpler options up to $112 for the full champagne flight extravaganza.

C Restaurant

Level 33/44 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000

High tea at C Restaurant is exactly what it says on the tin: an elevated afternoon ritual with a view that quite literally rotates 360° over 90 minutes.

I’ve sipped tea while watching the cityscape glide gently past—Kings Park one moment, Perth Beach the next—each vista more captivating than the last. The tiered stand arrives next: finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and petit fours arranged like edible jewellery, paired with expertly percolated coffee and unlimited cups of tea from nine curated blends. It’s classically executed high tea with fine-dining polish.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Bookings are essential and slots fill fast. Weekdays run 12:30–2:30 pm (finish by 4:30), weekends run 1–2pm (wrap by 4pm)

Sitting pretty at the base of the hotel, overlooking the waters of Elizabeth Quay, this is one extravagant way to while away the afternoon.

The experience is served in two courses—first savoury, then sweet—with each bite showcasing premium West Aussie produce. Think delicate tartlets, fluffy scones, dainty madeleines, and perfectly crafted lamingtons—it’s a seriously refined take on a classic afternoon ritual.

You’ll sip on your choice of Seven Seas Tea (from Margaret River), or go fo a glass of Howard Park’s Petit Jeté or Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage. Whichever route you take, everything is thoughtfully matched and impeccably presented.

Bar Amelie

118 Rokeby Rd, Subiaco WA 6008

If your idea of high tea leans less Earl Grey and more bottomless bubbles, Bar Amelie is calling your name. This Euro-inspired spot has ditched the teapots in favour of 90 minutes of free-flowing fizz, paired with a dreamy spread of sweet and savoury delights that are made for long, lazy afternoons.

You’ll graze your way through smoked salmon croquettes, bite-sized tartlets, mushroom arancini and open sandwiches, before moving on to house-made sweets like an opera cake with whipped cream and Amelie’s honey cake—all dependent on what the xhef decides to bake that day. Each plate is designed to be shared, so round up your crew and settle in for a very good time.

My mate Maddie has been for a hen's party before and recommends splashing on the cocktail package, adding on 90 minutes of all your favourite concoctions (espresso martinis, margaritas, pina coladas, negronis and more) to what is already a terrifically tasty experience.

INSIDER INTEL:

Chapels On Whatley

If tea is your love language, Chapels on Whatley is the high tea experience you’ve been waiting for. Home to one of Perth’s most impressive tea selections, with everything from blooming floral blends to rare native Bush Tucker teas, you’ll want to rely on the knowledgeable team to help you find your perfect match—their knowledge and passion is unparalleled and all part of the experience.

Transport yourself to another era as you settle into the charming space, rich in heritage and styled with antique treasures. The experience takes cues from the tea traditions of British colonisation, with nods to 1920s Shanghai, Raffles Hotel in Singapore and the grand hotels of India and Malaysia—where high tea evolved into a beautiful fusion of Eastern elegance and British ritual.

The menu itself is generous and balanced, with a well-crafted mix of savoury bites and sweets that beg to be savoured slowly. The house-made scones with preserves and whipped cream deserve a special mention as do the adorable table settings with Royal Albert and Royal Doulton fine bone china—it’s easy to see nothing has been spared.

And while I make sure to try as many tea varieties as possible, adding free-flowing Champagne for an extra $20 always feels like the right move.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Open daily with flexible sittings, perfect for a spontaneous luxe treat
  • Prices range from $59.95 to $79.95

Moore & Moore

46 Henry St, Fremantle WA 6160

High tea in a heritage building that doubles as an art gallery? Yes, please. Moore & Moore is doing high tea the Freo way—quirky, creative, and just the right amount of chaotic charm.

This is not your nan’s high tea. There’s vintage teaware and dainty bites, sure, but you’re just as likely to spot a local painter sketching in the corner or a dog wearing a bow tie in the sunny courtyard. It's all part of the magic. The high tea spread changes on the reg but is always packed with brekky hits—shakshuka, mini pancakes, little quiches, baked spiced chickpeas with roasted pumpkin, and desserts so pretty you’ll want to photograph them before you inhale them.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • It’s $55 a head for high tea, which includes an ever-rotating lineup of savouries and sweets plus tea or coffee
  • Available weekdays at 9:30am and 1:30pm, and Saturdays at 1:30pm only

Silks

Crown Perth, Great Eastern Hwy, Burswood WA 6100

Image credit: Silks | Crown Website

For high tea with a twist, Silks is swapping out the cucumber sandwiches for wok-fresh creations and incredible dim sum with a Cantonese-inspired high tea that seriously raises the bar.

Instead of a tiered stand, you’ll be served a steamer basket stacked with savoury bites like crispy kataifi prawns, cumin-spiced lamb buns, deep-fried milk bars, and perfectly golden pork belly. From there, it’s on to dessert with inventive treats like lemon lavender pear, green tea mango cake, and, my personal favourite, a sensational white chocolate blackberry sphere.

The drinks are just as extra. There’s no regular tea here. You’ll sip on a mesmerising butterfly honey tea that changes colour as you drop the lemon in or for just $10 you can treat yourself to the Pink Flamingo cocktail for a little extra sparkle. Coming in at $59, this one’s not only a feast for the senses—it’s also excellent value for a high tea with a little heat and tonnes of style.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • It only runs on Sundays from 2.30pm to 5pm
  • The Pink Flamingo cocktail is well worth the $10 extra

Chinta

29 Scarborough Beach Rd, North Perth WA 6006

Stepping into Chinta feels like a mini tropical escape. With lush greenery, Balinese-style furniture and vintage fine china, this dreamy North Perth spot brings serious island vibes to morning tea.

Available Monday to Thursday from 9.30am, Chinta’s signature three-tiered stand is stacked with a rotating selection of sweet and savoury delights—think bite-sized frittatas, flaky pastries, decadent cakes and petite tarts, all styled to perfection.

The best part? hey’ve got options for just about every dietary need, which is a lifesaver when your friendship group reads like a food allergy bingo card like mine does.

You’ll be drinking free-flowing tea or coffee from floral china cups, surrounded by fresh blooms and at just $39 per person, it’s a pretty luxe experience for a weekday treat.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Available Monday to Thursday, 9.30am starts with two-hour sittings.
  • They cater superbly to dietary needs—just give them a heads-up on booking
  • Ideal for weekday indulgence or catching up with your crew without the weekend madness

TWR at Crown Towers

Crown Perth, Great Eastern Hwy, Burswood WA 6100

For a high tea that brings the drama (in the best way), head straight to The Waiting Room—better known as TWR—inside Crown Towers. The Chambord Birdcage High Tea is a seriously glam affair, served in an actual gold birdcage and loaded with both sweet and savoury delights.

Expect luxe bites like smoked salmon and caviar on brioche, tarragon chicken rillette profiteroles and elevated egg and cucumber sandwiches, alongside picture-perfect desserts such as the raspberry frangipane tartlet. All paired with a huge selection of teas, of course, or upgrade with the pairing of an expertly crafted Chambord cocktail.

TWR is indulgent but never stuffy, and I adore it for a pre-celebration tipple or an excuse to feel a little fancy on a weekend afternoon.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Make a weekend of it and book a night at the Crown Towers
  • $79 for high tea or $99 with a Chambord— worth every penny

May Street Larder

23/155 Canning Hwy East Fremantle WA 6158

May Street Larder's Korean Fried Chicken Slider and other high tea treats

Known for its feel-good dining and commitment to seasonal, local produce, May Street Larder has brought its A-game to the high tea scene with its Artisan High Tea—a laid-back yet luxe affair that still packs a serious flavour punch.

Set inside this beloved East Freo neighbourhood spot, you’ll be treated to a beautifully curated spread of savoury and sweet bites that showcase the best of WA. I truly believe the Korean fried chicken slider alone is reason to book, but don’t fill up too fast—you’ll want room for standout sweets like the coconut cake (which, fair warning, you won’t want to share).

You’ll get bottomless tea and coffee throughout, but if you’re feeling a little festive, you can upgrade to free-flowing mimosas, bellinis, rossinis and prosecco for an extra $30. The vibes are relaxed and unpretentious, but the flavours are anything but.

INSIDER INTEL:
  • Available daily, book ahead for the best times.
  • $55 per person or $85 with bottomless mimosas and prosecco
  • Perfect for brunching with friends or celebrating without the fuss
