Perth cafe May Street Larder has become a mainstay in the East Fremantle brunch scene, and it's not just for their famous fried chicken waffles (which understandably is a major drawcard). Offering an epic breakfast menu—think: smoked beef brisket hash, apple pie french toast and breakfast burritos, May Street Larder's philosophy centres around seasonal foods and the best produce WA has to offer.

If you were lucky enough to make your way to Bagel O's soft launch on Saturday, you'll know two things. One, that the stacked bagels coming out of this shop are bloody good. And two, you'll likely have to battle crowds to get your hands on one when they officially open this week. 

Meet Goods Bakery, a new bakery slash cafe that has just thrown open its doors in West Leedy down near Bad Love Burgers and Nowhereman Brewing. This one comes to us from the legendary crew behind Modus Coffee, so quality coffee and tasty treats are kind of a given. But we're also big fans of its terracotta-hued check floors, sunny window seats and all-round cool minimal aesthetic.

Take one look at the Instagram feed of Carina’s Kitchen and you’ll probably find it hard to believe that almost everything is plant-based. It looks too good to be true! But rest assured, there are no dairy, eggs or animal products to be found in Carina’s dessert cabinet—just light and fluffy filled doughnuts, gooey cinnamon scrolls, cookies, brownies, cakes and more. At her new shop inside Hawaiians Mezz in Mount Hawthorn she's also expanded her offering, with some non-vegan sweets and savouries as well as coffee now on the go too.

For west coast dessert fans, The Honeycake needs no introduction. With now two stores across the west coast, The Honeycake has developed a cult following and has fast become a dessert destination among Perth locals, foodies and travellers alike.

Toast My Curry started off as a colourful food truck, introducing Perth to the world's first curry toasties. Luckily for us, they’ve now expanded to an equally as vibrant warehouse in East Vic Park, so there’s no need to wait until the next festival or market to satisfy your curry cravings. Inspired by the colours of Mumbai, the space is splashed in colours of pink and yellow, with murals, plush couches and a sea container turned kitchen. If the inviting space doesn’t put a smile on your face, the food certainly will. 

Set in a charming character space with timber floors and stained glass windows, 1982 Food + Coffee is an absolute Subi gem. The crew here are dishing up top-notch coffees, flavoured lattes, delicious takeaway bagels and toasties, plus, stunning dine-in brunch dishes that taste even better than they look.

A major supplier for some of Perth's fave cafes and bakeries (Willing Cafes, Ooh Coffee, Uptown and Grain Bakery, just to name a few), Community Coffee Co is already a well-established name in the Perth coffee scene, so we're not too surprised to see they've just expanded into a third venue to help satisfy our cravings.

Laying down roots in the redeveloped Alexander Buildings on the corner of Beaufort and Walcott street in Mount Lawley, SoHo Lane delivers light ‘n bright community vibes, killer coffee and upbeat New York inspired decor with its contemporary pink-hued interiors, forest green coffee bar and stunning terrazzo feature wall. 

Introducing Chubby Boy, a cute little hole in the wall cafe serving up epic slabs of fluffy shokupan slathered in tasty toppings.

Just when you thought the State Buildings couldn’t possibly get any better, they go ahead and open SHOP 1875—a retro-style Aussie milk bar brimming with nostalgic eats that’ll take you right back to days spent riding to the neighbourhood corner shop to spend your hard earned pocket money.

Nogi Lane is the love child of couple and longtime venue managers Callum Ellis and Tracey Ly. Both are Dianella locals and couldn’t look past the opportunity to bring something new and exciting to their own neighbourhood.

On a quiet street in suburban Fremantle is this quirky vegan spot, Cafe Freeariello by Bri. Owned and operated by husband and wife Fabrizio and Cristina, the food here is all vegan, mostly gluten free, and truly delicious. With sweeping views across the trees from the huge balcony, it’s easy to see why this cafe is such a lovely summer spot.

Sitting pretty at 1 Forrest Street in Subiaco, Mimosa is the newest opening from the power duo behind Tiisch, Sven Bartelt and Danielle Waller. Safe to say these guys are responsible for starting the bottomless trend that kicked off here in 2018 so no surprise to see they're offering bottomless brunch and lunch every damn day at Mimosa, alongside an all-day brunch menu for those of you who haven't yet bought into the bottomless trend. 

Right in the heart of beloved Freo is HomeRun Food—one of the coolest new spots serving up American-style burgers, fries, and fried chicken.

Tucked away in a quiet little corner of West Perth, you’ll find Forklore—the latest opening from Hanji and Hanli Khor—the brothers behind beloved Bayswater brunch spot, tbsp—and ex-Tbsp Head Chef Brian Kong. A beautiful and serene fitout with greenery and light awaits you alongside a delish Asian inspired menu, exceptional coffee and their trademark baked treats. From xo scrambled eggs and shokupan french toast, to tonkotsu congee and a sous-vide duck nanban udon, there’s loads of exotic brunch dishes to dig into. Of course, you can’t leave without trying their iconic chicken katsu sando. 

Let us introduce you to Fry’d, the aesthetic and very, very cool new spot offering up the most mouthwatering sweeties. Sitting pretty at 138 Oxford Street, the most exciting part (beyond the delish icey treats, obviously) might just be the fit-out by DBD. To keep the flavours fresh Fry'd has also teamed up with the crew at Il Gelato to get some exciting new flavours going. Expect things like sticky date pudding, Ferrero Rocher, Earl Grey milk tea, and plenty more out of this world creations. Don’t forget, there are now gluten-free options for our celiac friends. Serving coffee and gelato from 7:30am, then Fry’d ice cream from 12:30pm.

Led by former North Bird Head Chef, Chris Howard, The Humble Onion is the cool inner-city spot located in the newly remodeled Greenhouse site.

At Mary Street Bakery's Claremont cafe you'll find their famed doughnuts and bread amongst all the other treats you know and love from their five other locations around Perth. 

Perth gelato lovers, you’re going to want to get to Milan Gelato in Victoria Park on the double. 

Tucked away inside Osborne Park’s European Concepts is Casa Nostra Caffe—makers of everything fresh and delicious. The amazing barista at this family-owned joint makes coffee so good it attracts people from all over Perth, and the chefs are whipping up fresh sandwiches, pastries and cakes on the daily—but wait, there’s more. On Thursdays and Fridays, you can feast on pizza by their Italian pizza chef, and every day of the week you can carb-load with their delicious pasta which is all made in-house. 

Charcoal And Chai in Como caught our attention for all the right reasons. The menu features the most drool-worthy charcoal-grilled Persian street food dishes with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians (hello smoky marinated eggplant with lemon tahini and vegan feta), but wait, there’s more.

Sitting pretty at the base of the Ritz-Carlton at Elizabeth Quay is none other than Aurore Patisserie, home to heavenly pastries and delicious coffee. Aside from their irresistible flaky croissants and scrolls, these guys also brew a mean coffee with beans by Veneziano Coffee Roasters and they’ve got soy, oat and almond milk on hand—there’s nothing they’re not good at. Enjoy the ambience and pastel tones inside the patisserie as you sip and crunch away, or take in the sights of Elizabeth Quay by taking a seat outdoors.

Nic & Kolo might be a fairly laid back cafe in Applecross but it has some serious fine dining clout behind it and if you don't trust us, you should be able to trust the many awards they've won. They've taken home the CIA Gold Plate Award for Licensed Cafes for the past three years and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Vegans rejoice—Roho Bure has set up a location in Leederville and they are serving up scrumptious vegan ice cream. With flavours like salted caramel, coconut vanilla with dehydrated raspberry dust and a raspberry coconut and cardamom flavour, it's no wonder we love this place so much.

Velvet Espresso has been serving up some of the best coffee in Perth for years and they seem to just keep getting better. Sitting at the St George’s Terrace end of King Street, Velvet is well known amongst the nine to five crowd for a quick caffeine hit, but they also whip up drool worthy breakfasts for an absolute steal. 

For quirky pastries that will knock your socks off, you need to check out Croff Bakery in Perth. They’re dishing up all kinds of flaky and buttery croissants packed to the max with specialty flavours like jalapeno cheese, durian, char siew pork and pandan coconut. 

Mr Chapple at The Old Synagogue in Fremantle offers up everything from a rooftop bar with views of the famed cafe strip to a French wood fireplace that'll keep patrons nice and toasty in cooler months, with the bar stocking loads of WA craft brews and plenty of spirits.  

If you’re after freshly baked bread with freshly milled flour, Miller & Baker on Lake Street in Perth is the place to go. Grab yourself a loaf of tangy sourdough, traditional dark rye or a crunchy baguette and head home to make the softest sandwiches you’ll ever eat, or grab one of the sambos they make in store, if that’s more your speed.

With a name like this, you can be sure the crew at Joey Zaza's in Perth knows how to whip up a good sandwich. It’s hard not to imagine you’re in New York as you bite into the mouth-watering Porchetta Pleaza, the Mean Boss Parma—a handmade chicken parma with Nonna’s secret Napoli sauce–or even a classic Conti done the Joey Zaza’s way.

With their roots in Rome, the legends at Lupo Lab are dishing up authentic Italian food in the heart of Mount Hawthorn. The lunch and dinner menus are a dream come true for carb-lovers, with house-made pasta of all shapes and sizes taking center stage. Treat yourself to a bowl of fettuccine with crunchy guanciale and pecorino cheese, or dig into the gnocchi of the day. 

The Deli on Central will definitely bring about feelings of nostalgia for Mount Lawley locals. The building’s original 1950s facade has been given a facelift (while maintaining the iconic Peters Ice Cream mural) and the interior has been beautifully upgraded with a modern French feel.

When you’re looking for a delicious but nutritious pick me up in the morning, Sammy’s in Mount Hawthorn is the place to go. Sitting pretty in The Mezz, Sammy’s is specialising in, well, sammys. Makes sense.

From the crew behind North Street Store, Little Loaf Bakery in South Fremantle is baking some of the best bread in the southern suburbs. It’s a self-serve concept here, which probably means you’ll walk away with more than intended, but there are no regrets when it comes to baked goods. In the cabinets you’ll find their incredible, award-winning bread as well as pastries, conti rolls and sweet treats. And the brew is pretty legendary too.

Brooklyn Donuts in Subiaco is brought to us by the legends at Brooklyn Lounge and it’s as good as you’d expect. The sweet, fried balls of goodness are just as over-the-top as the burgers you all know and love from their Claremont shop. Get them nice and hot, plain or stuffed, cinnamon-dusted or smothered in chocolate sauce. They also do shakes, brioche ice cream sandwiches and more.

If the nautical-coloured poolside tiles and ocean-inspired design flow aren't enough to catch your eye on Scarborough’s brand-spanking-new Esplanade strip, then maybe this will—Dumbo Gelato comes bearing a fresh, daily-made menu of the decadent Italian dessert from the brain-team behind epic eatery and boozy venues, El Grotto and Si Paradiso.

If you’re looking for your next cool hangout spot, look no further than Livid Skateboards.

A bar and underground live music venue all wrapped up in one, Lyric's is an awesome little spot that showcases Maylands' epic laneways. Grab some tapas and wine or beer, before heading down to enjoy the live music in the underground basement. It's safe to say this pocket rocket is a unique and extremely welcome addition to the Maylands area. 

Cocco Bianco Gelato in Fremantle is serving up some pretty boss gelato. A sister store to Jersey Jack Gelato, they've made themselves at home on the Cappuccino Strip and are scooping all the classic flavours you know and love, along with some of their own unique creations. Plus, you can pimp your gelato with some doughnut balls or have it piped inside cannoli—why didn't we think of that? As for the interiors, they're as sweet as what's being served up.

Little Stables is dishing out the kind of breakfast, lunch and dinner hard-working city-goers need in their lives. 

Our Ruby Girl in Como is a friendly neighbourhood cafe with a whole lot of heart. Dedicated to using only the best local produce, they’re an equal opportunity employer and a zero waste cafe on a mission to make a difference.

Taking up humble residence in Mount Hawthorn, Fields of Vincent is the bagel house we’ve all been dreaming of. Since 2017 they’ve been serving up a gourmet selection of all kinds of bagels, accommodating those after gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. Our favourites have to be the avo and cajun chicken bagels—they’re like pockets full of goodness that will fill you up without leaving you in a food coma as you head back to work. 

There's no doubt about it, you will suffer from choice paralysis at Social Manna in Victoria Park, there are just SO MANY good things on the menu. Will it be a decadent banana bread bowl with whipped dulce de leche, puffed chocolate buckwheat, banana chips and salted caramel or the apple-filled mini breakfast doughnuts covered in apple custard and cinnamon oat granola? Or maybe the egg benny bao or the pulled salt beef hash? See what we mean? It's practically impossible to hone in on just one. 

In the eastern side of Perth's southern suburbs, family-owned and run business, Baked in Byford is flourishing. The passionate family serves up a brand new menu of freshly baked pastries, doughnuts and cakes daily to keep us all on our toes, and they stock our favourite Blacklist Coffee alongside a variety of loose leaf teas. We're especially excited about how accommodating Baked in Byford is, with gluten-free, vegan and keto-friendly produce standing proud on the menu that all give the other treats a run for their money. 

Ever stood weary-eyed at seven o’clock in the morning in line at your regular cafe, wondering whether there might be anything stronger to cure your zombified self than the bean-brew you’re now immune to? Yes? We thought so. Subiaco’s Blacklist Coffee Roasters concept store offers up a fresh coffee experience, with unlimited coffee tasting for $9 to find you the brew that was made for you. They also stock Killer Bee and their own label coffee, Blacklist merchandise, as well as equipment for all of your coffee making needs. 

Cult favourite carb eatery, Toastface Grillah, has closed its Grand Lane doors temporarily for renovations, but that means two fantastic things; they’ve opened up another Perth CBD store towards the rear end of Wolf Lane, between Murray and Hay Street, and they’re upgrading their original for all of you who love their array of toasties just as much as us. Serving up the same delicious treats and caffeinated accompaniments in their hidden gem in Wolf Lane, this is not but a meer set-back for those stumped at the corner of Wellington and Barrack Street.

The owners of Duck Duck Bruce have listened to their fans and have opened up a second restaurant, Lions and Tigers in Fremantle. Using locally sourced produce, this place serves up all things Anglo-Indian but with Australian soul.

Head to Tea More for your more unique bubble tea flavours. There’s Green Tea and Yakult, Dirty Cake with fresh milk and Fresh Kiwi and Tea, as well as the more standard options like oolong, rose and peach tea. Toppings include black, golden and crunchy pearls, red bean, and rainbow and lychee jellies, and they keep things fresh with seasonal flavours too.

Oushk Palmyra is a coffee and acai bowl lovers dream. This Palmyra cafe is well-known for its smoothie bowls piled high with lashings of peanut butter, tasty granola and even sweet treats like Turkish delight. They also make amazing coffee, along with savoury options that cater to every craving, running the gamut from reuben sandwiches to falafel bowls. The best bit? If you’re on the go, you can shoot them a text with your coffee or acai order. Oushk in Arabic means to adore, which is how you will feel after visiting this cafe.

One look at the eggy brioche sandwiches Eggspot is churning out and you won't be able to think of anything else. Based out of the Fremantle Markets, this all-day brunch spot is only open Friday through Sunday, so plan your egg cravings accordingly and when you're there beg them to open a permanent spot.

Housed in the Blinc & Co Gallery, Henry Blinco serves up award-winning coffee by Pound Coffee Roastery and tasty sweet treats that'll leave you wanting more. From biscuits, banana bread and raw balls, to chia cups, sticky raisin scrolls and melt-in-your-mouth caramel slice, all served in stunning, art-inspired surrounds. They also do filter coffee and stock a bunch of alternative milks, as well as bags of coffee for your homebrew. 

Cafe Leadman may be small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in great coffee and delicious noms. From their gourmet Mi Goreng pimped with truffle oil, sous vide egg and shitake mushrooms to their house-made maple granola, the kitchen is dishing up affordable goodies perfect for your breakfast or lunchtime fix. 

Gelato 101 Vegan Artisan is moving to Northbridge, bringing with it its delectable vegan delights, all with a side of compassion. The new shop will be tucked next to Flora & Fauna creating what we're dubbing as Perth's first vegan laneway. 

Swanbourne has come a long way over the years, and new addition Handy Coffee Co. has been receiving a very warm welcome from the locals. The cafe might be small but the coffee packs a punch, as do the dipped croissants fresh from the cabinet. There’s plenty of alternative milk choices and a few wildcards like the butterfly pea latte.

From humble beginnings as a food truck in Melbourne, Lukumades has broken into the Subiaco scene with their amazing Greek doughnuts. They’re unlike anything you’ve eaten before; soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and the original Lukumades are vegan-friendly.

Tucked away on a quiet street in Mount Pleasant, Fat Squirrel Coffee promises to serve up your caffeine fix all day. While they might specialise in coffee, they’ve also got all your colourful smoothies down pat. If you’re feeling peckish their breakfast and lunch wraps will keep rumbling tummies quiet. There are also plenty of sweet treats that are gluten and dairy-free, including a delicious-looking chocolate and date slice. Fat Squirrel also stocks Think Cup reusable coffee cups in case you’re in the market for a new one.

Pixel Coffee Brewers has answered our prayers and opened a second location at Claremont Quarter. Debuting Perth's first Aremde Nexus 1 coffee machine, you can expect the same exceptional coffee alongside gorgeous Scandi-inspired interiors and plenty of indoor plant vibes. The St Quentin Avenue cafe is dishing out healthy delights for breakfast and lunch that are as delicious as they are colourful.

There are plenty of different flavours, from smores and peanut butter to cappuccino and Ferrero Rocher. You can even design your own ice cream cookie sandwich. These giant cookies are sure to keep your stomach full and keep you coming back for more.

This cute corner shop is the newest coffee place on the block, and it’s sure to become your number one stop for amazing coffee. Wolfgang Milkbar is now serving up freshly brewed Pound Coffee, as well as tasty treats, like their double chocolate pecan brownies. Take a seat by the window and enjoy the leafy décor inside while watching the hustle and bustle of Northbridge's streets with a book and a cup of coffee for company. The guys at Wolfgang are all about supporting locally sourced coffee and bringing you sustainable and environmentally friendly products.

From the same people that brought us the pastel pink Pretzel, Voodoo Coffee is a more serious affair with moody vibes and specialty roasts. Think black on black with gold trimmings, candelabras with dripping wax and three coffee blends named after the gods of the voodoo religion. 

Tiago Kitchen & Coffee House in Joondalup is wowing the northern suburbs with its amazing food. Stop by for breakfast and try their famous Nutella French Toast and Pavolva Pancakes, or head in for lunch and order their delicious popcorn chicken and grilled haloumi burger.
