Here in Perth it’s a well known fact that Joondalup is quickly becoming our city of the north. To satisfy the good folk residing on this side of the river, we’ve done the hard yards and taken stock of all the gems in Joondalup and the surrounding northern suburbs.
For excellent coffees and top-notch brekkies and brunches, here’s our wrap of the best cafes in and around Joondalup.

You can head to Diesel Espresso Bar for a healthy ready made meal, but let’s be honest - we’re all here for the coffee and treats. Months of research, tasting and testing went into finding the best beans possible for milky coffees, cold brew, espresso, nitro and filter, and yep, we can confirm it has paid off. The cafe serves up post-workout protein shakes, smoothie bowls, croissants, rolls and wraps that will leave even the hungriest diner feeling satisfied.

Little Jaspi
2/57 Grand Blvd, Joondalup WA 6027
Pop in to Little Jaspi for a coffee and gourmet order to go or sit back and while away your morning with a smoothie, coffee and flavour packed meal. We love the Diablo omelette filled with chorizo and blistered tomatoes topped with harissa yoghurt and chilli jam or the Jaspi stack of pancakes with lemon curd, meringue, strawberries and chantelle cream.

This cosy cafe serves up breakfast and brunch with a nod to Mediterranean influence paired with Aussie faves. The menu changes seasonally but you can expect dishes like shakshuka with spiced roasted capsicum and tomato broth, poached eggs and toasted Turkish bread as well as pavlova pancakes and a drool-worthy prawn linguine.
Paper Avenue
52A Davidson Terrace, Joondalup WA 6027
Great coffee and tasty food make Paper Avenue a much-loved destination amongst Joondy locals. To start, grab your usual beverage or go for the matcha latte made with stone ground organic Japanese tea leaves and coconut sugar. To eat, we recommend the wholesome bowl made with brisket, fried eggs, confit tomatoes, roast mushrooms and potatoes drizzled with hollandaise or the Belgian waffles layered with Dulce de leche, banana, vanilla ice cream and cookie crumbs.
Runyeh Coffee
11/99 Caridean St, Heathridge WA 6027

Headed up by Josh McGinnity—the original owner behind local cafe institutions Hylin and Laika—Heathridge’s Runyeh cafe and roastery is a worthy contender. Wrap your hands around a double sausage English muffin, loaded chicken schnitty sando or an epicly good reuben with their own twist.
Allegria
68 Constellation Dr, Ocean Reef WA 6027
Allegria can do no wrong. Divinely good pizzas, amazing Sunday roasts and coffee that rivals the north’s best - you’d be silly not to visit at least once a week. Want the insider’s tip? Every hot drink deserves one (or three) of the cafe’s chewy and decadently good almond cookies. One bite and you’ll never look back.
Roma Republic
Kinross and Craigie

Roma Republic’s Craigie cafe was such a hit they’ve now headed up the road and opened the best coffee shop in Kinross. The coffee is always spot on and the brekky classics alongside huge homemade sausage rolls, sweet and savoury muffins and plenty of freshly baked treats will do the trick.
Distrykt Coffee
1/1 Gunter Grove, Beldon WA 6027
For a brilliant brew and soul warming food, Distrykt is where it’s at. The counter is packed full of muffins, slices, croissants and cookies and if you can get your hands on the winter warmer soups you’ll understand the talk of the town. Traditional pea and ham, creamy pumpkin and nourishing chicken are some of what the chef has been cooking up.
