Canteen Pizza

Two words: breakfast pizza. Our hearts broke when Canteen Pizza announced the closure of their gorgeous seaside spot in Cottesloe, so it was a huge relief when they revealed their new all-day pizzeria in Applecross. From 7am daily, you can get your fix of doughy goodness in the form of breakfast pizzetta, panini, house crumpets, doughnuts, plus muffins, tarts, bircher muesli and granola. And for those keen to embrace Canteen’s motto of ‘pizza, wine and a real good time’ in the AM, there’s a bubbles and booze menu complete with blood orange mimosas, coffee negronis and two types of bloody mary.

Inside the ever-so-vibrant Crumbs Patisserie, you’ll find cabinets lined with all sorts of drool-worthy pastries, doughnuts, tarts, and twists. Keep an eye out for the specials—each month, head pastry chef Julia Buri dreams up new flavours of her signature cube croissants, loaded cookies, and doughnuts. Pair your pastry with a pour of Dimattina coffee for the perfect combo.
Kona Café

Sitting pretty on the corner of Riseley Street and Kearns Crescent in Ardross, you’ll find Kona Café. The all-day breakfast and brunch menu is stacked with elevated crowd favourites, but it’s Kona’s house specials that take the spotlight. The star of the show is the crab potato rosti—a delightful pairing of soft crab claw meat and crunchy potato topped with light leafy greens, thin slices of cucumber, fennel, edamame, and a poached egg. A trip to Kona isn’t complete without one of their house-made cold drinks. Served in gorgeous highball glasses, the cucumber mint spritz, strawberry lychee fizz and tropical granita almost look too pretty to drink.

If you haven’t tried them yourself, we’re willing to bet you’ve at least seen pictures of Nic & Kolo's famous cinny scroll pancakes. A staple on this Applecross icon’s all day brunch menu, the ever-so-fluffy cinnamon scroll pancakes are drizzled with a cheesecake glaze and often accompanied by rashers or slabs of bacon—and they’re a must try. If you’re more of a savoury fan, the mac and cheese eggs benedict and the son in law eggs are cult faves for good reason. Nic & Kolo also makes a winning coffee, and to top it all off, everything on the menu can be made to take away.
