one of Perth's best beachside restaurants, bars and cafes

With Perth's/Boorloo's ridiculously good looking coastline, sunsets over crystal clear waters and jaw-dropping views of the Indian Ocean, it would be rude not to sit back and relax over a cold bevvie or two and take it all in.

We hear it time and time again, we’re blessed with the best beaches in the world, and at Urban List, there’s nothing we agree with more. So where better to soak up the summery beach vibes? Here are the best beachside venues in Perth.

Froth Craft Beach

The northern burbs have been blessed with a beaut new beachside taphouse from Froth just in time for summer. With two stunning spots (Exmouth and Bunbury) already under their belt, this is not Froth's first rodeo and it shows. From their award-winning craft brews and banging pizzas to the 180-degree views over the Indian Ocean, these guys have absolutely nailed the casual coastal brief. No wonder every man and his dog is lining up for a spot here.

Hillarys Beach Club

Two huge beautifully decorated levels, loads of unique spaces and all-day dining makes Hillarys' breathtaking new beach club an easy choice for whatever seaside vibe you're chasing this summer. Swing by the takeaway window from 6am for a post-dip coffee and bite, lock in a spritzy, pasta-filled long lunch at Bar Cicchettis or wander upstairs to The Heart for a sunset drink with the most spectacular views out to Pinaroo Point. Either way, you're in for a real treat.

The Shorehouse

278 Marine Parade, Swanbourne WA 6010

Head to The Shorehouse at any time of the day to soak up the seriously stunning views and beautiful interiors. Whether you want to stroll in with sandy feet to enjoy a drink on the deck, take part in a lazy brunch or get all dressed up for a night out of delicious eats and drinks, this is one beachside spot that will not disappoint. Plus, they've just given the space and menu a little revamp, so even more reason to pop in.

Clancy's

195 Challenger Parade, City Beach WA

Nothing screams summer in Perth quite like tucking into a big old serve of fish and chippies with your mates after a dip at the beach. And with its beachfront location, there's really no better spot than Clancy's City Beach. The Beach Bar is open from 6.30am til sundown with the restaurant open from 11.30am til late so you can wander straight off the beach and into a cracking brekky, lunch or dinner—with the option to take your feed down to beach for a picnic if you prefer.

Indigo Oscar

99 Marine Parade, Cottesloe WA 6011

When the old Indiana Teahouse was finally given a glow-up and transformed into the lush Latin-inspired bar and restaurant that is Indigo Oscar, we knew it would be a hit. Located smack bang on Perth's most iconic beach, the location alone makes this spot super special (especially at sunset). But throw on a spicy margarita and a few Shark Bay crab arepas and you'll see just how blissful it is.

Odyssea

187 Challenger Parade, City Beach WA 6015

With some of the most beautiful views in Perth, Odyssea is definitely one of our go-to's for a mind-blowing meal by the beach. Think seasonal produce in a modern Australian style that’s light, fresh and healthy. The crew here gives veggies the royal treatment, so don’t skip your greens, and don’t miss dessert. Grab a seat on the deck, order up and enjoy a few wines from Odyssea’s sophisticated wine list.

El Grotto

Shop 5/148 The Esplanade, Scarborough WA 6019

Is there anything better than sipping on a margarita and smashing down some guacamole and tacos? Yes. Doing all the above whilst looking out over the beach. El Grotto is one of our favourite little Scarborough hangouts and for good reason. A seriously cool Mexican themed interior with a well-stocked tequila bar and live music make El Grotto one popular Sunday-sesh destination. While we love a good Sunday arvo out, we reckon an after work drink, boozy lunch or Mexican midweek feast all sound pretty good too.

Island Market and Canteen

There’s nothing not to love about Trigg Beach—home to one of the best surfing spots in Perth, a stunning eatery and laid back diner paired with those awe-inspiring Indian Ocean views, this beach really does have it all. Head to Canteen with wet hair and bathers (and possibly a pooch in tow) for a super chill coffee and bite to eat—there’s brekky trays, poke bowls, fish and chips and burgers. And if you’re after something just a little bit classier, Island Market has you covered. Insane views, an incredible share menu and Instagrammable interiors will have you hankering to come back for more.

Bib & Tucker

18 Leighton Beach Blvd, North Fremantle WA 6159

Bib & Tucker has some serious street cred in Perth’s food game and after dining here it’s a no brainer as to how they’ve gained their legendary status. With sweeping views of Leighton Beach and incredible food, this is one place you’ll want to make your regular. The seriously awesome people here are all about great West Aussie produce with a relaxed ethos and modern seasonal menu showcasing the best of what’s on offer. Wash it all down with a burnt orange and pineapple margarita and you’ll be one happy little beachgoer.

The Beach House

100 Aurora Esplanade, Jindalee WA 6036

If you don’t hail from this neck of the woods, we promise it’s worth the drive. With floor to ceiling windows and an open layout, the views from The Beach House make this spot the ideal place to kick back and relax while you look out over our dreamy coast. Everything on the menu here is delicious and you can expect nothing but dishes full of flavour. There’s also a pretty sweet breakfast menu and with views like this, there’s no better way to start the day.

Madalena's Bar

406 South Terrace, South Fremantle WA 6162

Okay, technically Madalena's is a little walk up from the beach but if you snag a sunny window seat at the new bar upstairs you can just catch views of South Beach so it definitely delivers on beachside vibes. It's also got one of Perth's best range of seafood-driven share plates and a cracking wine selection so trust us, it'll tick all the summery boxes.

Bathers Beach House

6/47 Mews Rd, Fremantle WA 6160

We could not be happier that Perth has landed itself a licensed beachfront bar and restaurant with Bathers Beach House. You can quite literally book yourself a couple of beach loungers and sip on a well-earned cocktail with the sand between your toes as you dream of being on a beach-side holiday. Order a few share plates or go all out with the seafood platter. It doesn’t get much better than this.

The Little Bay

33 W Coast Dr, Watermans Bay WA 6020

Brought to you by the geniuses behind Little h and Meelup Farmhouse, this oh-so-pretty beachside gem is dishing out the goods. Grab a coffee on the go or settle in for breakfast or a long lunch to soak up the fresh modern space with minimalistic coastal vibes as you people watch all those crazy exercise fanatics on West Coast Highway. The beach views are nothing short of amazing too. Our pick of the all day brunch menu (only our favourite kind of menu) is the coconut pancakes—fresh, fruity and all sorts of tropical cool.

Il Lido

88 Marine Parade, Cottesloe WA 6011

If Covid cancelled your European holiday plans, Il Lido is where you need to head to stat. This coastal locale looks out over one of Perth’s best beaches and serves up some damn fine Italian cuisine. Order a Spritz and peruse the menu before settling on all sorts of cold cuts, cheeses, pastas and a bottle of your favourite Italian wine. Head there with a group and get your hands on as much as you possibly can. Open for brekky, lunch and dinner, Il Lido is one place you need to immediately add to your dining bucket list.

Coast Port Beach

42 Port Beach Rd, North Fremantle WA 6159

It doesn’t get more Perth than Coast in North Freo. Pop in for a post-swim feed or get all glammed up and head into the restaurant where you’ll have your pick of local seafood, finger lickin’ burgers, woodfired pizzas and fresh salads. Plus, there’s a heap of deals to get around like $5 mid-week schooners—sounds like a win to us.
