While much of Perth CBD's cafe scene prioritise good coffee and takeaway lunch bites for our hungry office-goers, there's a string of standout cafes screaming for a beautiful sit-down breakfast.
So whether you're visiting Perth or just looking for somewhere good to start your day, here's where to find the best breakfasts in Perth's CBD and surrounds. If that's not enough, hop across the trainline and work through the best cafes in Northbridge.
Cooee
171-173 Mounts Bay Rd, Perth WA 6000

Located smack bang on the picturesque banks of the Swan River, Cooee serves up West Australian-infused brekkies with unbeatable riverside ambience. Think: gluten-free almond pancakes with Swan Valley strawberries and double bacon and Kalbarri egg rolls with tomato chutney. Cooee is only open for breakfast on weekends, so plan your brunching accordingly.
Mount Street Breakfast Bar
42 Mount St, West Perth WA 6005
With favourites like Turkish eggs and chill crab scramble, starting your day at Mount Street Breakfast Bar is always a good idea. Its leafy streetfront terrace and killer cocktail menu only adds this West Perth staple's allure.
Community Coffee Co
177 Mercantile Ln, Perth WA 6000

After a successful stint in Subi, Community Coffee Co has brought its hype-worthy food truck eats to Perth's CBD. Swing past for an egg sando or sausage and egg muffin and don't be afraid to add extras like bacon, hashbrowns and their funky fermented chilli sauce.
Post
State Buildings, St Georges Tce &, Barrack St, Perth WA 6000
Anyone who has brekky at Post is guaranteed to fall in love. Much like the rest of the State Buildings, the romantic Italian osteria is dripping in old world luxury and five-star elegance. The menu is a nod to simplicity and quality West Australian produce with classics like 'real toast' topped with crushed avocado, tomato, cucumber and lime and a perfect open omelette with fontina cheese, roast tomatoes, rocket and parmesan.
Petition
State Buildings, St Georges Tce &, Barrack St, Perth WA 6000

Nestled within the heritage walls of the illustrious State Buildings, Petition has been serving one of our favourite breakfasts in Perth for years. Good coffee, a daring (but not too daring) breakfast menu and gorgeous interiors should leave this spot front-of-mind for hungry city-goers.

Tiisch
9b/938 Hay St, Perth WA 6000
An absolutely beautiful spot to while away a couple of hours over a coffee or meet with friends for lunch, Tiisch also does well to keep up with the corporate coffee-loving crowd. They’re making serious coffee with plenty of imaginative but unfussy, quick bites to grab-and-go alongside it. Oh and let's not forget that this is spot that brought bottomless brunching to Perth, so don't be afraid to bring out the bubbles.
Deli Gabe
97 Murray St, Perth WA 6000

One look at the cheesy toasties and stacked bagels coming outta Deli Gabe and we guarantee you'll be back on the reg. The CBD cafe and sandwich shop smashes the CBD lunch game but brekkies are given equal importance. We're kinda obsessed with the shakshuka featuring rich, spice-infused slow cooked tomatoes, onions and red capsicums with gooey poached eggs, feta, za'atar and fresh herbs.
Garum
480 Hay St, Perth WA 6000
If you thought the bountiful Roman brekky banquet at Garum was just for hotel guests, let us set you straight. This lavish $45 all-you-can-eat breakfast is such an underrated gem in the CBD, with everything from frittata, crispy potatoes and scrambled eggs to continental meats, antipasti, wholesome salads and sweet treats like cannoli and croissants. Come hungry.
Forklore
102 Railway St Suite 11-12, City West Centre, West Perth WA 6005

Forklore is attracting serious crowds and for good reason. The coffee is excellent and the Asian-inspired menu means this brunch spot needs to be added to your list stat. Think chicken katsu sandwiches, congee and udon noodles. The flakey pastries are something you’re gonna wanna bring home too.
Hemingway Cafe by Mo
152/158 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000
Stepping into Hemingway Cafe feels like what I imagine cafes of the future to be; minimal, sleek and incredibly high-tech. With the best espresso machine in the biz (an undercounter Modbar, for those wondering), a series of automated pour-over coffee makers serving unique brews and some of the very best baristas in town, the coffee definitely takes centre stage here but the food offering is every bit as good.
